MN Trade

Post#1 » by taiyed » Thu May 22, 2008 4:13 pm

As a MN fan, I'd just like to see your thoughts on one of the following trades:

Antoine Walker's Expiring + Rashad McCants + 2008 high 2nd rounder

for

Boris Diaw + 2008 #15 pick

- or -

Antoine Walker's Expiring + Boston or Miami's 2009 1st round pick + 2008 high 2nd rounder

for

Boris Diaw + 2008 #15 pick

I think Diaw will actually have some value for us with a more defensive minded coach. I'd rather move Barbs for a good shooter/defender than Diaw.

Plus, expiring's aren't a huge deal as 30+ million comes off the books in two seasons. Getting $7-9 mil off next season won't make much of a difference and probably lead to Sarver signing Ricky Davis with the money saved by moving Diaw. I say keep Amare, Diaw and the young guys and rebuild the guards/SF with the draft and a trade involving Barbs.

Minnesota is getting the better end of both those trades. We're basically giving away our first to dump Diaw. His contract is bad, but it's not that bad.

as far as im concerned if we used diaw properly he would actually be worth his contract

no way to this deal

that said, a guy like mccants with his 3 point shooting would be good alongside shaq and amare drawing double teams

We need to get rid of Diaw but not if it means we have to throw away our 15th pick.

SDU to use Diaw properly takes the ball out of Nash and Amares hands which would then make them less effective.

Im all for trading him but not our first rounder.

^ agree in a way for sure

thats why, even tho i rate diaw highly, i have suggested in the offseason thread some trades where we move diaw for a starting quality SF who can nail the three to capitalize on the double teams amare and shaq will be getting

mike miller, danny granger (would require more from us) mike dunleavy etc

It would be lovely if we could get any of those players.

Are you heading to cogans tomorrow night?

I think DIaw is a great talent when he is used right, and has motivation. But like what KPCB34 said, I think it wont happen because we are taking the ball out of or two best players. I would love to get miller here, or even Dunleavy, but I don't see it happening. You can also looke at Artest in a trade.

But no way we do this trade. I know everyone thinks we just get rid of our picks, but this year, especially with MD gone, I think Kerr is going to use this pick. If we can get a SF in a trade, than I would like to see a big in the draft.

id be against artest because he needs the ball to dominate

i want a SF who is a dead eye shooter from 3 to compliment nash and bell as starters surrounding 2 players who will get them open shots all day long
