? bout mark jackson the analyst

Post#1 » by thaAteam » Fri May 23, 2008 2:38 am

is it just me, or does mark jackson try to sound like a head coach when he gives his analysis, it sounds like he's auditioning for a job, can anyone else tell?

He sounds like a poor head coach. He just rambles cliches and offers no substantive analysis.

No, his commentary sounds much more like the pre-recorded analysis you'd hear in a basketball interview. He doesn't sound like he's giving a spontaneous opinion/piece of analysis based on what he's seeing on the court; he's cliche, and a little bit robotic. Notice, he hardly ever varies the rhythm of his speech. In one way, it's a good thing because it means he's concise, but in another way, it's just boring.

He also states the obvious far too often.

He sounds dead all the time. Why can't he be like JVG?

my thoughts exactly. he already makes up his mind on what he is saying and doesnt respdon based on what happened...if it was a chargh "what a diffifcult call to make for the official...that was VERY-CLOSE" and yeah he is robotic.

Yup. Can't stand him. JVG is awesome, though. He makes Jackson and Breen tolerable.

I said the same thing earlier, he's auditioning for a job with the dumb stuff he says. He's so boring and cliche

Yeah he's constantly trying to sound smart and trying to make statements with authority. It doesnt annoy me as much as it seems to annoy other people though.

Mark Jackson is the man, he and JVG keep Breen from turning the booth into a politically correct broadcast.

IMO many in this thread are choking on toooo many sour grapes.

Maybe they are just mad that they aren't the guy from the streets of NY who beat the odds and had a great NBA career.

He's rocks as an analyst which is one reason why he is going to get many more coaching interviews. I hope nobody hires him though, ESPN would bring back Steve Kerr should he find himself unemployed in the near future :curse:

He has to be one of the worst color commentators ever for ESPN, if not the worst.

He really does blow. He's the worst color analyst, pound-for-pound.

Mike Breen is the absolute worst.. He's a dry version of Bob Costas..

His stupid call of: "IT'S GOOOOOD" is bland..

And then he feels the need to just go on and on about sportsmanship.. And then feels the need to inform the viewer of every important players tendencies and what that means..

I like this one about Rasheed Wallace from game 1..

"He plays with an edge to him, and draws his fair share of technical fouls.. But he doesn't necessarily intend to do it to hurt his team-- it's just that since technical fouls result in the opposing team shooting a free throw, that could effect the game's outcome in the end, and that's when his firey spirit could become a detriment to his team"

Thank you for explaining basketball to us all, Jackass...
