There isn't a way we can do some sort of 3-way deal on draft day, huh?

Something along the lines of:

Miami gets a star vet player

Minny gets the #2 pick

3rd team gets the #3 + expirings


Obviously the 3rd team needs a star who doesn't fit the rebuilding situation, maybe trade with the Clippers and send Brand to Miami? Nah, Clippers should be a playoff team next year.

Or maybe the Pacers send Jermaine O'Neal to the Heat.

There has to be some way, but you can only trade draft picks on draft day right?

With their team as is? Golden State couldn't make the playoffs and they won 48 games.

I worry more about Mayo's short arms than Beasley's attitude. Beasley is only 19, he can mature. Mayo's arms won't be getting any longer.

I think Riley wants to put another star next to Wade, preferably a big man. Let's not forget, Riley is old. He has to be in win now mode. He's just too old to be rebuilding a team. If he had time, he would just take whoever Chicago doesn't take between Rose and Beasley. But Riley doesn't have time for Rose/Beasley to develop so I think he'll try to trade the #2. Unfortunately, the only thing we can entice him with to land the #2 is Big Al.

If Al is the only thing that can entice Riley, I say give him up. Beasley might not turn out to be as good as Jefferson, but based on where he is right now I think he'll turn out better.

That's exactly like when Chicago traded Elton Brand (proven 20/10 player like Al) for Tyson Chandler (who was the #2 pick) and we all know how that turned out.

I would not trade Al Jefferson for the #2 overall pick. He is already a proven player who comes at a reasonable price. He doesn't have any off or on the court issues and is a relatively healthy player.

There are way more risks involved with Beasley than with Big Al.

Brand was nearly an MVP three years ago averaging 25 and 10 and leading the Clippers to the playoffs.

Al Jefferson had only one season with a winning record (his rookie year) and he barely contributed, so what are you trying to say?

Tyson Chandler doesn't make the Hornets contenders, Chris Paul does. Chandler is easily replaceable. If Brand and Chandler were to switch places, the Hornets would most likely still be in the playoffs and the favorite to win the NBA title.

I seriously doubt that a three team trade would happen, but does anyone here think that this would be good value for all three.

CHI GETS: 2nd pick (Beasley) + Randy Foye + Antoine Walker (expiring)

MIA GETS: 3rd Pick (Mayo) + MIA future 1st returned + Future CHI 1st

MIN GETS: 1st Pick (Rose) + L.Hughes

Chicago gets the player that best fits their team in Beasley, gets a dynamic guard that can get attack the hoop in Foye, and loses a bunch of salary by replacing Hughes with Walker (and they still get a hometown guy back )

Miami gets the guy that they apparently like the second best in this draft in Mayo, and they also get two future 1sts (both likely outside the lottery)

Minnesota gets the pure point guard with superstar talent that they desperately need next to a post player like Al Jefferson, and they will finally be able to say that they got a first overall pick.

I know we aren't talking about giving up freaking Al Jefferson. A man who has averaged 20 and 12 at the age of 23 who is signed to a VERY team friendly 5 year deal!? Forget Beasley if that's the price. we don't even know what he will become!
