Even still, I really hope we don't blow a 21 point 4th quarter lead tommorow night. 8)

Yes and at this point the in 2002 celtics have already won 3 road games (2 and 5 against the pistions and game 2 against the nets) where as this team has not won a single game.

As for as I am concerned the 2002 celtics are still a better team overall than this current team is.

I'll third that...WOW!

Although, if we had 2002-era Antoine, Battie, and Williams on this team with KG and Ray and Rondo, etc, we'd be **** unstoppable!
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

Not that I think this is the best celtic team, but I would think its better then the 2002 Celtics

The Best Celtics Team Ever

The playoffs are believed to identify the best NBA team. But as noted, the regular season is a better sample than the playoffs. And when we look at the regular season we already know the identity of the best team in the NBA. And that team is the Boston Celtics.

The Celtics had a truly historic season in 2007-08. How historic? Last June I wrote a column examining the Best Team for Each Team.

In this column was the following table:

Table One: The Best Team for Each Team

We can measure efficiency differential (offensive efficiency minus defensive efficiency) all the way back to 1973-74 (which I have done). With data in hand we can determine the best team in the history of each franchise (at least back to 1973-74). For example, the best Celtics team - prior to this season

Some day your going to have something positive to say and I'm going to crap on my seat in surprise  , yeah Toine is better than KG, Waltah is better than Posey, and Pierce is.... oh yeah Pierce...., and 3 point shots should be the only shots, I mean they're worth 3!! Even our D is better.

um, no.

the reason why the celts were so good is because walker and pierce played their hearts out. they were truly underdogs against everyone they faced.

if the celtics that year didnt have bum games by the duo, we would have easily wont hat series against the nets and we wouldnt have gone 0-4 to the lakers.

On paper you can break down each player and of course the 2008 team is better. On paper the 2004 lakers were much better than the pistons as well yet Detroit still beat them.

You are measured by what you do in the play-offs and right now the 2002 celtics has done much better in the play-offs compared to the current team. Can that change? Of course. The celtics could end up wining the title but at this moment the 2002 team is better.
