Tracy contract and what will we do after it is over?

Post#1 » by wadero » Fri May 23, 2008 4:41 pm

If I understand it right T-mac Contract has 2 years left on it. So he will either be a free agent in 2010 or he retires? If he does walk away from the game what are the rockets going to go after. Give me who you hope the rockets can get we got 2 years to eith win it all or we will have to rebuild.

I am sure as its about to expire. If the Rockets have no at least made the Finals in that time...they will look to trade his expiring. McGrady won't retire. I think he has one more contract in him...but he'll probably be a 2nd or 3rd option on a good team.

Depends on where we will be, same with Yao, but Yao financially and business wise is worth much more.

Why would he retire after his two years are up? He said he wanted to stay in Houston.

He said he wanted to play until 34-35, but when the contract ends he will be 31.

There are a couple of factors that will determine his fate, the main being his health. If his body continues its downward spiral then he's most likely going to retire. If there are teams willing to pay him top dollar, he might head elsewhere, which is a strong possibility considering what Wincanity got from New Jersey. T-Mac's a much better player than both Carter and Ra$hard Lewis, and while he might be a bit older, he can still probably get some pretty damn tempting offers depending on what he does these next two years.

Our best bet of keeping him is having a solid core that he loves to play with and believes can win. As it stands now, we've still got a lot of work to do to get to that point. We have the work ethic, hustle and chemistry, just need to get some more talent, and hope for less injuries.

I just got off the phone with Morey, and this is what he told me:

whats the "haha" about that? if the team still hasn't won any rings, i think tmac would glady accept a huge paycut for the sake of bringing the mojo to the rockets

We need to see how he performs the next two years before he gets written off.

If the Rockets haven't competed for a title,I imagine he'll go title chasing. And that off season will have a ton of FAs such as LeBron(ok he won't sign, but he's knocking another team off the buyers market),Wade,Bosh,Deron Williams,Amare.

Return to Houston Rockets
