TNT's presentation vs ESPN/ABC's presentation

Post#1 » by houstonboy01 » Sat May 24, 2008 6:00 am

is not even close.....

Is it me or the people incharge of the montages and themes for the espn playoff games are some of the most incompetent fools ever who have no damn clue about basketball and how to present a game and make the game actually feel epic.... WTF is up with the country bumpkin theme that ABC/ESPN have going on... do they seriously have a clue that this is a basketball game....

TNT however does a complete 180.... THEY KNOW HOW TO HYPE A GAME... from the awesome beat to the stylized video it makes you want to watch even if you are not a fan...kudos to TNT...

lmao @ country music theme for ESPN/ABC.

What in the world is wrong with them?? Do they think everyone who watches basketball gets hyped from red necks singing about their lost dogs.

First off, let me say I cannot put into words how much I miss the NBA on NBC. That theme song alone brings back memories.

ABC/ESPN's coverage is at best mediocre. Before they had the TV contract, very rarely did ESPN cover the NBA the way they did the NFL, MLB (and I distinctly remember in the mid 90's SportsCenter quite frequently running more NHL stuff than NBA) I'm not surprised at the lackluster way they present the league now.

I do enjoy the Mark Jackson/Jeff Van Gundy combo. I wish TNT would pick them up. Otherwise, It would be fine by me if every game was on TNT. I hope Turner bids out ESPN's coverage and brings back the NBA on TBS during the next negotiations.

Yeah, ABC/ESPN is crap. At least the guys on the TNT show (Barkley, Kenny etc.) know how to have funny when they say stupid stuff. The ESPN guys are dead serious when they say stupid stuff.

TNT's intros are great, the post game show is worth watching, Craig Sager's suits are awesome, and they even broadcast the game for free over the internet... Michael Bivins sucks but I'd rather listen to him than the clowns on Around the Horn.

i'm really glad espn/abc is doing the eastern conf and TNT is doing western... because I can't stand watching espn sometimes.

I'm going to cry during the Finals... why don't they let both broadcast the finals.

I miss NBA on NBC though... damn microsoft ruined everything... okay maybe it wasn't microsoft's fault.

Not only is ESPN/ABC's production garbage, their announcing teams are also garbage, and their table of "analysts" is garbage.

Man I miss NBA on NBC. That theme still gets me pumped up.

I always suspected that the TNT graphics design people were the ones who used to work on the NBA on NBC. their stuff is highly stylized and you can see they use a lot of current popular design trends in their work. either way it looks a lot better than espn's crap, which looks like it was made by an intern or something.

i agree about the music themes to.... remember last year when ESPN-ABC used the pussycat dolls? ...yep.

My problem with ESPN is they always have random guys discussing basketball. Since when did Wilbon and Jon Barry become the analyst for these playoffs. What happened to that black guy, Walton, Stephen A, Jamal Mashburn, the wnba chick, and the list goes on.

Yeah, their intros are sick:

reminds me somewhat of the NFL's Don Cheadle commercials but still great nonetheless.

If I had to use one word to describe why I prefer TNT:

I'd say 'smooth.' It's just smooth and classy with great atmosphere for each broadcast. ABC and ESPN just try too hard to me. TNT keeps it simple.

I get ABC in HD for free, so ABC is my favorite channel for the games to be on. Presentation wise though, absolutely no question, TNT is immensely better.

TNT's has been superior... studio guys and show, the music, the announcers (I dig Reggie), the graphics, the intros, the highlight packages, the promotional commercials

Getting JVG, plus Hubie Brown has bettered ESPN in the announcing group, though. I just miss Tom Tolbert and Snapper Jones.

TNT and NBC (with no music touch-up just because it's been awhile) would be godly

Or Turner somehow getting a national network partnership, or their own, and imprinting the TNT style to the national show. TNT domination with ESPN of course still doing their cable broadcasts.

ABC being eliminated from coverage of the NBA. :)

You know what the even bigger travesty is? It's that the FRIGGIN' NBA can't even market its own product properly. They should just contract it out to TNT.
