Brand/Tim Thomas/Rights to Russell Westbrook or Eric Gordon (#7)/Future Minn First (Top 10 protected until 2012) for Amare/Barbosa
Brand would probably fit in better next to Shaq up front. Tim Thomas played well as a Sun a few years ago. Plus you guys get the #7 pick and a future first.

I have to admit that the prospect of getting #7 is tempting. Biggest concern would be how Brand recovers from Injuries. Swapping Brand for Amare would be an upgrade on defense and rebounding, but it would be a significant downgrade offensively...but then again, if Amare didn't show up in this years playoffs anyway.
Would love to have Tim Thomas back. We need 3 point shooting...but I don't know how many years he'll be good for.
Would love to get the #7 pick, I'm very interested in getting Westbrook/Gordon. Naturally, the trade would be 10x better if we were able to get Bayless.
Don't really care for the Minny pick, it's not worth much to us if we're still trying to contend.
I think I'd have a tough time pulling the trigger on that trade until I know how Brand reacts to that injury, and if he can go back to the MVP season level that he once had. With Amare, you know that he hasn't hit his ceiling yet. Also, how long it would take for Westbrook and Gordon to be productive.

Tempting, but I would pass. I think Amare is such a good, and still young talent that works really well with Shaq. We need that athletic big next to shaq I think. TT is a contract player, that is it. #7 pick would be nice too. I think we would go for Westbrook, but Bell is slowing down and is played way too many mins, so we need a sq too.
Mn pick would be nice, but its crazy that is protect that long. Would be nice when we are trying to rebuild in a few years.
With that said, I say no. Pass on this because Amare is our only building block for hte future. Brand is older and Amare still is young enought to improve on the defensive end. He just needs to learn some basic fundementals, and be a consistant 20-10 guy.

I'm kind of torn on that myself. With Westbrook, at least you know you get decent defense...but Eric Gordon is just flatout explosive. It's a tough decision for us, because we still don't have reliable backup point guard yet. And with Barbosa heading to LA, we'd need to replace a lot of off the bench scoring. If we had Barbosa still, I'd go with Westbrook. But I might lean towards Gordon to replace him.

TT can only play when he is in a contract year. Brand is risky because of his injuries...so...No way we should make this deal.

Amare didn't dominate the Spurs but he did put up decent numbers ,20+ points per game, 2 bpg, 8rpg, I'm not exactly sure of the percentages but it's something like this I think. In the lone Suns win Amare only scored 9 but that's because Diaw was the hot hand in that game.
I think that because no one else on the Suns really got going offensively Amare's scoring against the Spurs looked ordinary but if you didn't have Amare we would have been even less competitive against SA.

F Diaw
F #7/15 (Gallinari/ Batum)
G Bell
G Nash
With a bench of
#7/15 Westbrook/ Augustin

I'd do a Brand/Stoudemire + fillers trade,
If Suns can get that no.7.
Stoudemire and Kaman front court would be very tempting for Clippers, Stoudemire can afford to slack off the board because Kaman is a beast rebounder and shot blocker. And thats due to Brand being injured, more room for Kaman. Stoudemire's game will allow Kaman to be the interior anchor....

I guess it would be fair to say that Kaman is pretty much what we were hoping Shaq would be? (defensively at least, but then again, Shaq was acquired for defense and not offense..apparently.)
