Apparently NBA Commissioner David Stern did not believe Aubrey McClendon's explanation that these were just incomplete thoughts at the end of a long day because the NBA fined Mr. McClendon $250,000 for the remarks. I dont think the judge will be any more willing to accept his assurances that his written emails were out of sync with his thoughts. McClendon is just a serial prevaracator and a profiteer.

He was never committed to a long-term solution in Seattle. The locals saw right through him from the beginning and this adversely affected the efforts to upgrade the arena. Why spend taxpayer money to enrich an out of town billionaire? If the tenant/landlord relationship is dysfunctional as he claims then it is only because he made it that way. I don't know why he even continues with this effort to get out of the lease early. He is hanging himself in the Schultz case with every deposition in the city lease case.

Yes, but if you take three minutes to read the article, and there's no mention of someone lying under oath to Congress. (Or in the Clinton case, which you might not be old enough to remember.) Do you have a point or did you just come to talk about Roger Clemens? And are you really dumb enough to think I was trying to minimize the seriousness of the offense, or just trolling?

Not that I wanted this to be a partisan discussion, but I will add this: there are smart Republicans and there are dumb Republicans, just as there are smart Democrats and there are dumb Democrats. Let's make no mistake: McClendon is purely the dumb kind of Republican, the kind of mouth-breather you find in the flyover states who think corporate welfare (in the form of a multi-million dollar handout from taxpayers to billionaires) is just fine but get up in arms about the "threat" of boys marrying boys.

This news has had me thinking a bit more about the City's case. I've been following these law suits closely, but now I feel a bit confused. Why is the city going to such lengths to show that their intention was to move the team when the city is trying to enforce the specific performance? I mean, nobody is denying in this suit that the Sonics want to move, the question is just when can they? Why do their intentions play into this? It seems more relevant to the Schultz case.

i think these two cases are more closely tied together than we realize. the city is doing howard are tremendous favor and laying the groundwork so to speak as to clays intentions.

Huh? I never bashed republicans a first time. My comment has nothing to do with what political party you belong to. This is about a person who has publically stated the intentions of this ownership group. For him to now backtrack and make up some phony excuses when questioned, that's compulsive lying.

It's a good question, as I've read Sonics Central, a lot of posters there are wondering the same thing. At least Yarmuth has some evidence he can site and if needed, can dig a little deeper. This may be all the evidence they need regarding McClendon.

One thing to keep in mind is that all of the redacted content IS seen by the attorneys in the case. So even though 90% of Clay's e-mails remain unknown to us, if they contain anything that would help our cause, they'll be shown to the judge.
If I were judging this case, I'd be offended by the okies trying to twist their comments backwards. The judge is not stupid, and she may not appreciate being lied to...

The PBC contends they should be allowed to break the lease because their situation is untenable and they have no options left. The city is trying to argue that the PBC made their own mess. There are and were options but the PBC intentionally alienated the fans and political support and has failed to follow up on the arena alternatives.
