Boston Celtics or Detroit Pistons??

Post#1 » by garcia3 » Sat May 24, 2008 12:29 pm

Ok ok, I'm not by any means trying to overlook or underestimate the Spurs, but I'm very confident we will win this series.

Having said that, who would you rather face in the Finals??

IMO it would be better for us if we faced the Celtics (although we lost both games against them this year) because I still remember the way the Detroit Pistons embarrassed us back when we had both Malone and Payton on the team.

I think the Pistons are a bigger threat to us than the Celtics, are, in fact, i'm not scared about the Celtics at all given their trouble to win out of their home-court and the fact that they don't have a real point guard. If Fisher keeps on playing the awesome D he played on Deron and has been playing on Parker, then I think we can disrupt their game plan.

Thoughts??

definately the celtics

but only because they exhibit mental weakness and crappy depth

and also because sasha could probably get a few technicals out of paul pierce

I don't know who I would rather play. I think that we could definitely beat the Pistons but if we were to lose I will be ridiculed by my friends for as long as I live. They still won't let me forget 2004.

The Celtics would make it a historic finals but I think that the way we are playing know we can definitely beat them.

David Stern wants LA and Boston again.

I want a repeat of 2004:

Whoop the Pistons ass to get what was rightfully ours in 2004.

You can't go wrong with either team though as they both have rookie coaches who hasn't been in this situation before.

Experience wins championships.

Kobe + Fisher + Phil + Magic + staff >>>> Detroit and Boston combined

Either, it doesn't matter. We haven't lost a game at home since March, and since we got Gasol we have only lost 6 games that he has played more than 3 minutes.

Celts... without question. I want to see this city's bandwagon homer fans deflated. They accuse Laker fans of being fair weather fans, but from my 6 years in Boston, all I've seen is Boston sports fans mocking the Celtics only to come running back once they started performing well again. Chants of MVP for Kobe in the Celts own home ground... embarrassing.

These are some true fair weather fans, which is unfortunate because most of the time the weather sucks in Boston.

Give me please the Seattle !

Can the Lakers play against Supersonics in the NBA Finals, I wonder ?!

Man, we're playing against the Spurs !

Whoever we play in the finals, we've got to stay focused against San Antonio and execute ! If we execute well, it won't matter whom we'll be playing against.

the SHAQ/KOBE LAKERS? full and total confidence. they had experience on their side. and were not going to get outrebounded. nor were they going to get outplayed on the perimeter. even with harper and a younger fish playing side by side with KOBE.

when those guys laced it up, full blown OVERCONFIDENCE was on ourside. however at this time, these guys have no background experience to point to as far as winning. besides of course fish/kobe.

gasols first win ever happened this year. lamar. etc...

i know jax used to say, one game at a time back then. but we were always peekin ahead. but i for one am still waiting for that portland/laker moment. that 7th game down by fifteen in the 3rd or 4th quarter watershed moment. after that, we took off for 3 in a row.

maybe it wont happen. maybe this team is just too darn good. but until they take down that trophy, it truly is about 1 game at a time.

How about the Lakers actually, you know, MAKE the Finals before we start talking Boston/Detroit. If any team can come back from a 0-2 hole, it's San Antonio.

Boston.

Detroit has to be the most boring team to watch play. I'd rather watch grass grow.

I don't see anything wrong with talking about it. It's not like anything we say here on this site affects the actuals games on the court unless you really believe in jinx's.

How long did we talk about Bynum coming back and what effect he had on the the Lakers? Perhaps we shouldn't have posted anything about Bynum until he actually stepped back on the court.
