The QB situation

OK, so what does everyone think?

Should we give Culpepper a chance to prove that he's still got it, or should we cut him? It doesn't appear as if he has trade value, so we probably can't deal him away.

If we cut him, should we trade for Trent Green, or make a push for David Carr?

It's obvious we're going to draft a guy. Who do you want, and when do you think we should pick him?

it's so hard to say, since we haven't seen Pep in forever, but by all indications they must not like him (his health or his cap #), thats why there is intrigue over what we do. If we pick up Trent Green, they cut Pepp, IMO

See, I think they cut him if we sign Carr, as well. Personally, I'd rather sign Carr than trade for Green, because at least we're not giving anything up to get him...

Carr brings with him the possibility of finally having some stability at QB for the next 6-10 years; this assumes all goes well. All we've had since Marino are platoon QBs...if Culpepper really is a flop then they need to make people forget about him by getting their next quarterback "of the future," not picking up another "get us to the first round of the playoffs for 2 years" QB.

That's why I expect us to draft one, no matter what. I don't think, even if we get Green, that it means Green is guaranteed to play the entire season. If he's brought in, it will be with the understanding that he's grooming the QB of the future. If we sign Carr, we're still drafting a QB...

Does Lemon really have the potential to be anything more than a solid backup who'll win you a couple games here and there?

I don't really like Green, too old and injury prone. Carr would be the perfect person. It would give him the chance to still be a starter in the league while giving the Dolphins two quality QBs.

Except for the fact that he's terrible. The guy does not have good instincts or a good football mind.

I think Green makes the most sense. If we can draft Quinn, great. If not, I like Kolb out of UH.

1. Stop bring in repair patches to the QB situation. No trent green.
2. Either draft a QB in the first, or dont draft one at all. theres a reason there not ranked to go in the first round. Dont give me the tom brady argument also.
3. Culpepper can still play, if hes healthy, thats up to the management.

I feel Daunte deserves a chance! Do NOT under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES trade for Green! Sign Carr to be Culpepper's backup or do something to draft Quinn

Okay, that seems to be the general consensus on Green. But really, is he that old and that injury prone?

He suffered a devastating head injury last year, fine, I'll give you that. But with his track record, I think he's earned the benefit of the doubt. Aside from last year's concussion and blowing out his knee in St. Louis, the guy's had perfect attendence. For 5 years straight, he didn't miss a game. He's a tough customer.

And yeah, he's 37, but it's decieving. I don't think Trent is your typical 37 year old...he's a late bloomer. He sat on the bench waiting his turn for nearly half his career before finally getting a chance to play. Technically, he only has 8 full seasons under his belt. That's not much more than Daunte. He may be pushing 40, but there's been surprisingly little mileage on his legs. Playing behind that fantastic Kansas City O-Line for as long as he has is like the fountain of youth. By comparison, with Houston's god awful O-Line, Carr has spent way much more time on his back then Green. So really, who's more beat up between the two?

I've been back and forth between Green and Carr for a while now, but I think I've just made up my mind. I vote for Green.

no green please.. the guy is just to old and to slow. ill take my chances with dante instead of green. carr i have always liked an di would like to see him trying it here in miami. i want lehr from the falcons and levi jones to start building the o line.

I have the feeling if Carr was coming here, we'd have at least interviewed him by now

I think it makes sense for Carr to go to Carolina and try to usurp Delhomme who is no great shakes

Yea, Daunte needs a chance to show what he can do when he's fully healthy. I say we give him at least 2 seasons to do that. Can't we sign both Green and Carr? 2 great backups.

Green may eventually get released and then we can sign him. If we get both Green and Carr I feel Daunte may just be on his way out though

I don't think we gain much by cutting Culpepper. What... $2M or so? Not saying he will make q comeback, but better to know for sure than see him do well elsewhere.

No to Green.

I'm meh on Carr, but would be interested if we got him.

Draft a QB, please.

Well, our defense isn't getting any younger. If we were to pick up Green. I think it puts us in a position to win now. We could then Draft a QB to groom over the next 2 years. Otherwise we should go into a full rebuilding mode, and it doesn't look like we are going that route.
