Ryan Gomes - Restricted or Unrestricted?

Post#1 » by Boston34Celtics » Sat May 24, 2008 11:15 pm

I can't find this information anywhere. Is Ryan Gomes restricted or unrestricted this summer?

You'd probably also be interested to know that of all our RFA's (Gomes, Craig Smith, Telfair, Kirk Snyder) he is by far the one that McHale will try hardest to re-sign.

Yeah, Ryan would look good on the bench in Boston but like you said, it's almost a lock for Ryan to be resigned. At least that is my opinion

I wouldn't give Gomes MLE-sized money. If he gets that sort of offer from Boston, let him go.

That stinks, so we get no head start with Gomes. Maybe it's not a sure thing he comes back.

The plus is that Ryan Gomes seems to like playing here.

I've heard little about how Craig Smith feels he fits with the team, or if he enjoys Minny.

Telfair would love to play in NY.

Snyder doesn't seem like he wants to play here.

Gomes is too professional to say anything thats not P.C.

Craig Smith sees the writing on the wall - he was great with KG, because KG can play from 15' and draw attention and pass to Craigers for the easy finish, but with Al he doesn't have the room

Its too bad because personality-wise I like Craig the most, but thats exactly why I don't want to re-sign him. I think he can be a 15/8 guy in a perfect situation and a dangerous 6th man on many teams. But there's probably few bigmen that duplicate his strengths like Al Jefferson does.

He'd look good on Toronto, but they already have 3 quality bigmen. He'd look good with KG again, but they got big baby already.

Houston is pretty good, Craig/Yao/Landry is very solid. Sacramento with B-Rad and Hawes, both potentially good compliments, San Antonio would be very nice with Duncan

^Screw Snyder. If Cookie gets offered a good amount....i'd even let him go. Gomes SHOULD be a lock to get resigned. I'd like to keep him around! Great guy with great energy off the bench!

Its funny because I used to value Craig Smith WAY more than Gomes, but Gomes has really found a role with this team and his versatility as a SF/PF and ever-improving outside shot is solid.

Craig Smith needs to develop an outside shot and become a more intense defender, then he can be a Corliss Williamson

I think Smith has value like he is, the only problem is on this team he either

-plays 10-15min as Jefferson's back up
-Or plays with Jefferson and offensivel and defensivly Gomes is better next to Jefferson.

Gomes can be our starting 3 or our 6th man as a 3/4 back up. We need to keep Gomes.
