We already have 6 picks(two 1st rounders, 4 2nd rounders) this year, 4 picks(two 1st rounders and two 2nd rounders) next year and 3 picks(two 1st rounders and a 2nd rounder) in 2010.

Also, i want no piece of that future 6th man Eric Gordon and DeAndre Jordan is a huge prospect, which isn't really what i'd be looking for, given that we invested 2 lottery picks and a late 1st rounder in those kinds of players 3 straight years.

I really think we should hang on that pick and draft Mayo, Bayless or even Lopez at #4.

That's a very good idea, but I hope LAC fans don't expect Mayo to be available at #4 to make the deal.

I'm another MIN poster, and I agree with you guys -- those pieces aren't going to start a conversation about #4.

Incidentally, since they owe a future protected 1st to LAC that could be paid off next year if they pick 11 or higher, they are prohibited from trading their 2009 1st.

The only legit way I can come up with MIN having a shot at #4 is to take NYK up on the rumor of getting the #6 by swapping Walker's $9 mil expiring for taking Curry or Zach Randolph. Neither player work for MIN, so it'd need to be a three way, but the #6+ should be a no-brainer for you.

MIN take Mayo at 3
MIN takes Lopez at 4
MEM would NEVER take another PG at 5
SEA still gets Bayless at #6, plus whatever incentive MIN offered to move up two slots.

I'm not sure. I though he would have been a good fit in the Allen/Lewis era. He is a slasher who can shoot and he is also a good defender. But, I think it would be better to have more of a spot-up shooter at SG than a slasher. Not a terrible idea, though.

I'm not sure of how good a fit Magette would be(never really thought about him as a Sonic even though he was drafted as one). But he brings one thing that Seattle really lacks. Magette draws alot of fouls and gets the other team in the penalty. How many games did we watch where the other team had a huge advantage in number of free throw attempts?

Maggette could opt out this summer(and i believe he already stated that he'll do so) and i don't know why we should trade for him, as Durant and Green will play the 2 and 3 positions next year and with Maggette being more of a sf as well.

I don't agree with this at all.
Maggette is a mediocre defender at best and it's his offense, that will help him get a nice new contract.
Of course it wouldn't be bad to have a slasher like him, who draws quite some fouls, but i liked what i saw out of Durant at the end of the season and i think a guy like Mayo or Bayless will help in that area as well.

That's why i don't really like trading down from #4, as we will still be able to add a very good player at #4, but i'm not sure what we could do at #7. There are guys like future 6th man Eric Gordon, projects like DeAndre Jordan, Anthony Randolph, Marreese Speights or guys like Russell Westbrook and DJ Augustin, whom i'd be OK with as our 2nd first rounder, but not with our own pick. Sure those guys could become good players as well, but i just like too much where we're at right now, to consider trading down, just to add yet another future pick.

I think he is a good, strong defender, but not always motivated to be one. So, you will often see him slacking off and letting his opponents beat him. This, in part, is because he is usually the first option on offense. Think Paul Pierce last year. It may also be, in part, because he is never on the same page as Dunleavy. I don't know. He can lock down players, at times, and at others he is entirely average. But you're right, there is no reason to expect good defense from him. I was just trying to list his positive qualities.

Maybe yes, maybe no. But I do believe something is going to happen with the #4 pick by way of a trade.

I don't think a Marbury type player like Bayless is the answer for Seattle. So much depends on what Minnesota does with their pick and whether or not Mayo will be a Timberwolve.

But if the stars aligned perfectly and Presti could swing a deal to get Miami's pick and Chicago picked Beasley, then is there a single Sonics fan that wouldn't jump through the roof when that one was announced?

Downtown, that's why trades involving picks are usually draft day trades, because you want to make sure the guy you want is there. If miami is looking for a PG, why would they trade from a spot when there is a chance Rose is there?

If we'd like to trade down to get a guy like Westbrook and want to shed some salary as well then Damien Wilkins is not the guy that we'd trade. It would be either Watson or Ridnour, cause both of them make twice as much as Wilkins and at least one of them would be redundant with Westbrook in the mix.

I expect Rose will be gone to Chicago. The Sonics are in good shape at 4. They don't need to deal because they could use any of the top five players. I expect they will do a deal with the Knicks and pick up an extra pick at 6. Then they could take two of the top 6 guys in the draft. If we ended up with Bayless and Lopez I would think that would be a pretty good draft for them. They don't need six picks. Three rookies on the roster would be enough for one year.

I think one of Watson or Ridnour needs to be traded if a PG is drafted. We need the PT for the rookie. NYK has expressed interest in Ridnour before. They want an uptempo, pass first guy and that is Ridnours strength. He could blossom on a team that had a center to finish for him.

The incentive for the Knicks is they need to unload payroll to enable a run at a major FA next year.
