Well if he was indeed chasing a ring and hind sight was 20/20 I don't see why he would choose a team that didn't win the ring that year.....

Well thats based on if he went to another team that allowed him to play the way he had before. Payton was 21 points 9 assist the year before he went to the Lakers with Seattle. If he had decided to go to Indiana, Minnesota, Houston perhaps history would be different.

He was Sam Cassel without the shooting ability for the lakers.

I know he hit a crucial shot in the Finals for Miami. He was probably better suited for bench at that point.

How about when he was in Boston.

i love gp. he never fit with the lakers and wished he went back to seattle, but glad he got a ring and was a role player on their team.

His outside shooting killed the Lakers in the finals. That allowed the Pistons to double and triple up on Kobe. Payton shot like 27% in the finals for the Lakers.

I also remember the clutch shots he did hit for the Heat. There was one game winner where that was the only shot he took the whole game. He also made one other crucial play in another game but can't remember what it was. Without those plays the Heat don't win the series......
I'm so tired of the typical......
