Lakers vs Celtics

Post#1 » by Bucky O'Hare » Sun May 25, 2008 8:48 am

Will this be the biggest NBA Finals of the past 20 years?

The two winningest franchises in NBA history. The rivalry that rejuvenated the league in the 80s'. Kobe, Gasol, Odom, KG, Pierce, Allen. Phil Jackson going for #10 against Red's old team. Wow.

P.S. - sorry Piston and Spurs fans, but everyone knows we're on our way to the aforementioned NBA Finals.

I hate how the nba is gona try to fabricate a "rivalry" between the two franchises. Yeah they had a rivalry in the past, but its not the same trying to renew it unnaturally. It seems like the nba will try to force a rivalry through talk and marketing...bird vs magic and all that. Its like when the nba tried to market the shaq vs yao matchup and the carmelo vs lebron matchup....it wasnt much of anything.

Yes the matchup will be great and can start a new rivalry if theirs some bad blood during the games, but the nba cant restore a rivalry. the teams are different and players are different.

There's nothing there now, that was there before.

So, I don't see how it's going to be this big thing, but the media, and especially ESPN is going to over hype it.

I love how so many people want to continue to live during the past. The media once again hypes this possibly match-up. Cheers to not getting out of the past.

you do realize that Celtics vs Lakers has global appeal.

It wont be Boston and Cali watching, it will be the world at the tip of their feet on every play...

Celtics vs. Lakers == Heaven sent

Exactly, I see them over hyping to the nth degree which might make it yet another big let down in the playoffs...they just need to let the games do the hyping

Not by itself, the media and espn/abc are going to do overkill with their marketing of such a match-up, only setting up for a disappointment to 'real' basketball fans, should the series be nothing, at all.

Actually the Lakers and Celtics have always had the hatred. It's just been one-sided for the lakers however. Now that both are competitive, if they meet in the finals, it would a be a rejuvenated rivalry.

It'll be a boring final trust me . Not going to watch Celtics vs Lakers if it comes . Worst possible finals.

Spurs/Pistons is more exciting?

You have 3 of the most dynamic offensive players in the game today split b/w the 2 teams, with 1 being the MVP. -- There's no way that that's the worst possible finals.

Give me a break.

Here's to hoping this is sarcasm.

In any rate, renewing this rivalry would be amazing for both the fans and the NBA. There really is no down side.

Nope I'm perfectly serious . That rivalry nonsense is one of the biggest BS i've ever heard made by the media .

Lakers-Celtics Finals = Most Overhyped Finals With Zero Substance

Spurs-Celtics = Now that is called a Finals

Lakers-Pistons = Another Very Good Series

Spurs-Pistons = Best Finals possible
