Coach Snow?

Post#1 » by Troubadour » Fri May 23, 2008 1:35 pm

I can't believe the Bulls are actually considering hiring this guy!
Does anyone think that he could make a good head coach?

The best teammates don't always make the best coaches. See Sam Mitchell.

Must be true, if it's a rumor you read on Hoopshype.

that's definitely true, but if you watch the clips, i just was kidding

seriously, he's been grooming to be a coach for a long time, even an assistant with the cavs iirc, and thats what hes wanted to do for a long time. I think he was even considered for the job at Temple a while ago. He'll be a solid defensive minded coach, hopefully a descent one in the future.

I think eric snow would make a GREAT head coach.

But he needs experience has a assistant coach first.

People tend to underestimate what experience means in head coach.

Just look at Avery Johnson, 3 terrible playoff series in a row, all due to lack of experience.

How much experience does Dirk NoWinSki need to become a real go to guy.

How is AJohnson responsible for Cuban's wacked squads and trades and meddling?

This post sounds like George Karl when Doc Rivers was hired for his job in Orlando and he whined that his assist. coach was 'due' an opportunity. George Karl's experience hasn't helped Denver become more than a team that is first round fodder for any 1 seed.

The Cavaliers owe coach Snow 7.4 million dollars next season.

He needs to be an assistant first, learn the coaching ropes from a legit coach, and then eventually land a job, or else he'll fail miserably

There's a slight possibility of him getting the medical retirement or whatever it is (where the player faces a career-ending injury and the team is allowed to just take him off the books). I hope that happens (and maybe he becomes a Cavs assistant), or that Snow can be good bait (expiring) as part of a trade.

There is a rumor floating around that Larry Brown wants him as an assistant in Charlotte.

Snow is bone on bone in both knees. He will never play another second in the NBA. I do however think he'd make an outstanding coach.

He's already been coaching in Cleveland most of this season. He was the one drawing up plays in the first round of the playoffs in the one game the Cavs had anything resembling a normal offense.

The Cavs have already started the paperwork with the league office on getting Eric Snow approved for disability retirement. There are lots of hoops to jump through, but Snow says that his left knee is bone-on-bone, and that he's probably done. If all the proper parties sign off, Snow's $7.3 million could be taken off the Cavs' books for luxury-tax purposes. It is also possible that the NBA could grant the Cavs an exception of up to half of Snow's salary ($3.7 million) to use to sign another player or to use in a trade

Are you speaking Chinese? I'm sure you probably don't even realize how racist (as well as ignorant) that statement is.

I doubt Chicago is seriously considering Snow as head coach... nor do I think they ever seriously considered Mike Dunlap, the Denver assistant, as a possibility. I would expect Chicago's next coach to have head coaching experience or at least at the minimum significant experience as an assistant on a winning squad. If the team gives the coaching spot to someone other than that kind of person it'll be someone who would spark interest and sell tickets- (think Scottie Pippen or Ron Harper)

More than likely the conversations with Snow have been more to feel him out for an assistant's job... Chicago also may be thinking about the possibility of aquiring his expiring contact and seeing if he would be a good freebie injured player/assistant next year.
