A LeBron observation

Post#1 » by Real Talk 07 » Tue May 27, 2008 3:11 am

Now I know a lot of people are going to overract as soon as they read this...but has anyone noticed that LeBron has no true moves on offense? As in, a fadeaway jumper like a MJ/Kobe, or how Wade comes off the dribble for a floater in the lane...LeBron doesn't seem to have a true go to move he uses....he's really just freestyling based off of his athletic ability. His only true polished skill on offense is his incredible passing ability, which is actually amazing seeing as he led the league in scoring this yr, and has averaged 27 a game for his career....any thoughts/corrections?

Terrible observation.

The man has a go to move. Its called a sliver of an opening and the tomahawk over the waiting big man.

its the best move you can have. I wish Kobe had that move once in a while.

What LBJ needs is a reliable jumper from midragne like a Kobe or MJ and he'd be the greatest player the league has EVER seen.

EVER.

LeBron's go-to move is the layup. Seriously.

I agree to an extent......but his 1-on-1 skills are so good he doesn't really need one at the moment. There's also that brute strength

It's true that he doesn't have a money go to move but he finishes so well around the rim, does he need one?

You think MJ developed that fade away when he was 23? Kid is still growing and everyone knows this is the most scary part about him. He's still kind of raw offensively and he's one of the best scorers in the league!

He doesnt need a go to move. He just needs a midrange jumper that is consistent. Hes doing just fine without a go to move.

Seriously. The only thing defenses can do is give him room and hope his jumper isn't falling. If it's falling.... watch out. He's already arguably the best player in the NBA, and if he gets a consistent jumper, and continues to improve his defense, then he has a decent chance to surpass MJ. It's amazing though, how he can get 30ppg on 48% without a reliable jumpshot.

he doesn't really need one right now and there will be a natural progression for him to get one. The guy is freaking amazing right now if he got a back down fade way jumper down its gonna be a sucky game for the other team.

And when it isn't falling....

LeBron's lack of a jumper is a serious issue if he wants to win a title. He can get by in the regular season, but in the playoffs it has really hurt him. The Spurs shut him down because of it and so did the Celtics for most of the series.

Yes he needs! So he can avoid games like 2-18 FG! You can never see a game like that from Kobe and that's why he's not the best player in the league but Kobe is. But like I said he's only 23 so I'm not worried. Starting from this summer he must work on a post game though!

All I really think he has to do is work on his midrange game and his footwork

I hate to beat a dead horse on this one, but if those teams couldn't allocate three or four defenders to him, he could just continue getting into the paint. The Cavs winning the championship starts with getting another threat on offense.

That is true. The real problem wasn't that LeBron was off, it was that the entire rest of the team wasn't making shots either. Which allowed them to make sure that someone other than LeBron be the one to beat them.
