Spurs or Lakers: Who would you rather play?
I think I would rather play the Spurs. Both of these teams are amazing so it is like picking between different kinds of poison as both teams will be difficult matchups for us but the Celtics will be a tough team for them to matchup with as well. I would rather play the Sours because I think we can matchup better with them. Garnett and Perkins can give Duncan some trouble. Parker is obviously a better point then Rondo but Rondo is very fast and quick too and has played well against Parker in the past. The Spurs have absolutely nobody to guard Paul Pierce. If Bowen tries to take him Pierce can post him up all day. Also, if Ginobili guards him he could get into early foul troube, and when Manu struggles the Spurs do as well. The Spurs also don't have much off the bench or great role players. Finley, Oberto, Udoka, and Horry can all be neutralized. I think Kurt Thomas could play pretty good for them and put up 10 and 8.
The Lakers on the other hand have the best player in the NBA in Kobe. We have no matchup for him much like Lebron and we would have to rely on Pierce and Posey guarding him and double teams which will free someone up. I imagine that Perkins would take Gasol and KG would take Odom but I think whoever Perkins guards he will struggle with as both of these guys can handle the ball on the perimeter and blow by him or hit otuside shots in his face. Posey would play a lot in this scenario with him taking Odom and KG taking Gasol which would be a better matchup. The Lakers also have the best bench in the NBA with Vujacic, Turiaf, Farmar, and Walton. These guys provide a lot of energy and can get pts in bunches.

Either Way, It Will Be A Great Finals
one one hand you have the 2 best power forwards of this generation squaring off on the largest stage, the the franchise that originated the dynasty against the modern nba version of a dynasty. 2 great defensive teams
in the other hand you have the lakers and celtics. enough said. it wont be your dad's lakers celtics, but it will be a legit nba finals, probaly the most viewed nba finals in years. the best big three in the west against the best big three in the east, kobe instantly brings star power, and alot of whistles

The Lakers, with no doubt. I still think the Spurs are the better team until they are dethroned, and I'd rather face Kobe than Timmeh in the finals, both are superstars, but Timmeh can pull down 20 boards on you to go with his scoring, plus from watching these playoffs I have to eat some crow and say Manu is a much better player than I've given him credit for. In the end, either team will be a battle, but the Spurs have been there and done it together, much like the Pistons.

I want all the Laker organization to implode and feel atrocius pains, no matter if SAS is the better team, I don't want the Fakers make it to the NBA finals, I don't even care if we do or do not the NBA finals, 1st thing is, I want them to fail, they are the exact opposite of sport, sacrifice and pride, the values that make me choose Boston as MY team, if the evil dies I can afford even the good not triumphing...

Well, the Lakers don't play defense and Boston can match them offensively. The Spurs would evoke concern like before the Pistons series. I feel that a Celtics and Spurs series would make for the better match up.
Personally, I'll like to see San Antonio get an opportunity to defend their championship against Boston.
First headline: Garnett versus Duncan or Boston versus the somewhat San Antonio dynasty.
Second headline: Rondo versus Parker or defense versus defense.
Third headline: Pierce versus Bowen or their bench versus their bench.

Spurs are a better team IMO, but the Lakers pass the ball so damn well and play such amazing team offense at times (don't tell me Phil Jackson is only recognized as a good coach because he is given good players) they strike me as a team that could abuse our gameplans, especially cause KG couldn't stop a lot of their offense. They also are probably best in the league at making halftime adjustments. From an X's and O's standpoint the Lakers are as good offensively as we have been at times defensively.
Plus Lamar Odom matches up well versus KG and/or PP, Kobe can take someone else, Derek Fisher isn't great but could help expose Rondo's inexperience at times I'm sure....I don't think Bynum's back but still they could certainly cause problems

Spurs, The lakers are a richman's cavs. Kobe can take over just as easier or easier than Lebron. And his supporting cast does not need to be wide open to nail a shot. I hate the Lakers, and i would hate for them to win another title, so i am rooting for the Spurs this round and the Pistons (god forbid) if we lose. However, i have the sinking feeling that the Lakers are going to win it all.
