Garnett champioons- Yay or Nay?

Post#1 » by coolcono » Tue May 27, 2008 8:28 pm

Do we want to see Kevin win a championship? Here are my counterpoints..

He will be a Celtic in the HoF if he wins one in Boston.
He insulted Big Al.

I also have countercounter points if any one can think of them..

I'm pulling for him. He was here to long and poured his heart out on the court and off the court. I respect him too much as a competitor and player to not pull for him. The day KG wins a championship....will be the happiest day for NBA fans. I think more people pull for KG than ANY other nba player EVER! I don't care if KG walked out and took a dump on the timberwolve on midcourt.....i'm still pulling for him

I want KG to win just because I am tired of people saying the Duncan is better than KG because TD has won championships. That is the stupidest argument ever. If the Celtics could face the Spurs that would be sweet (but a Lakers Celtics match would be awesome too).

However, next year I want them to have a bad record just so we can move up in the draft. 30th overall is pretty useless, we need them to lose so we can move up.

I agree with cpfsf. He's not perfect, but he busted his butt every day for the Wolves, on the floor and off, and he's a decent kid. I want him to get the ring that will remove the only blemish on his legacy.

However, after he gets his ring this year, I hope the Celtics crash and burn next year. Ray Allen already looks like he's rushing for age 40, and while I could never hope for an injury to KG, Paul Pierce joining Ray Allen on the sidelines for 4-6 weeks wouldn't make me shed a tear.

KG is my all time favorite player, so yes I'm rooting for him to win a championship regardless of what team he's on.

Besides who else would I root for- Pistons, Lakers, Spurs? GO CELTICS!

Actually I think a lot of people dislike him more than they like him.

I'm a Wolves fan before I am a KG fan. At this point, I'd rather see us win one than KG, but that is not possible. So if KG wins one, great. If he doesn't, no big loss for me.

I think I want him to win a championship, not sure.

I've never won a championship before though, except little league baseball tournaments, but never an NBA championship as far as I can remember. So if KG never wins one we can bond over that.

If the Lakers get eliminated then I want him to win. I have more loyalty to my hometown team than I do to KG.

If the Lakers go to the Finals, I almost want to see Detroit more. I want to see super offense vs super defense. Granted the Celts can D up, but they're no Detroit

I'm definately not rooting for the Celtics yet. I like Billups and Kobe way more than I like Garnett. I would root for them against San Antonio though.

I'm with you. I was a Wolves fan before KG was drafted. Players come and go but teams are here for the longrun. KG gave me some of my happiest moments as a Wolves fan, and I shed a tear when he got traded, but if he's not wearing a Wolves uni, he's not with us.

It's complicated for me. I was born and grew up in Virginia(Then we moved to Japan because I was part of a military family), my family is from Virginia too, and since there is no team in VA, the closest two teams were Wizards and Knicks..

They are Knick fans(VA is kind of close to NY), and I was a Marbury fan when he was in high school getting hyped in NY, when Marbury came to Minny, I started to cheer for Minny, then KG opened my eyes to what greatness really was, so I became a KG fan. I grew more and more to liking the Wolves because I have loyalty to the teams I cheer for just like KG does by sticking with his team.

So basically, I want KG to win the ring, but I wouldn't die if they lost because I have become more of a Wolves fan than a KG fan.

Wolves and Celtics w/KG are the only two teams I cheer for, **** NY!

Hopefully that makes sense.

I'm surprised by how many Wolves fans have turned their backs on KG. He was the face of the franchise for over 10 years. Even when our team was in the gutter and out of the playoffs for 3 years, he was rejecting trades because Minnesota was home to him. I'm not saying he's perfect, or the best player, but it's rare for a superstar to show such loyalty to a small market.

I've accepted the fact that he's gone, and the Wolves will always be my team, but they're not contending. If I have to choose between the Spurs(who broke my heart in the playoffs many times), Lakers(also broke my heart in the playoffs), or Pistons(no allegiance), or Celtics, the choice is simple. I'm going to root for the guy who worked his tail off for over a decade with this franchise. The Celtics are filled with guys who have never won a championship like KG. How can you NOT root for the Celtics!?!?

KG showed his loyalty to us for so many years. Not even a year later, it's odd to see so many people who have turned their back on him. Sure you can be a wolves fan through and through....but show him some love. He was perfect to us!
