I still havnt seen anyone in favor of a fair trade rule give an unbiased way to determine which trades are fair and which trades aren't fair.

I do not advocate a rule because there is no way to objectively make such calls.

My thing is that it's just very disheartening for fan bases who's teams offer good faith trade proposals and then watch crap like this go down. That's all I'm stating. I do agree that it probably has to do with Memphis having someone with a brain running the show back when we had PJ's expiring (West) and they don't (Wallace) now that PJ is gone. "Boo hoo" for me as the Sonics owner would say. If it were your team you would understand the sting. Like I said, I'm def. against a rule...but this particular move doesn't seem to be very strongly related to NBA basketball...stinks more of an owner trying to sell his team.

Whatever. If you believe in karma or that sorta thing...we got ours in the lottery so I can't complain.

If Javaris was in this years draft he be a lottery and definetely top 10. Marc has improved so much that he definitely go in or close to lottery but it would surprise me to see someone take him high in the lottery. IMO you get 2 young players that have lottery level talent your getting high end young talent. If I said right now I have a big expiring contract and pick 7 and 13 in the draft. I think you could get a lot of unhappy all-star players with that package.

No way these two would go this high in this years Draft .

Javaris went 19 as a freshman. Could have even went higher but the Hawks didn't want someone so young. He was one of the top PG prospects in the country out of high school. If he came back another year he would have been one of the top PGs in the nation. What reason would he not be a lottery selection.

A team looking for a big man would have a tough time passing on Marc right now. Marc Gasol is one of the most improved players in the world over the last year. He was ACB MVP and beat Arvidas Sabonis record for MVPs of the week. When he was drafted he was thought of as unathletic and not very mobile. That was before he got in really great shape. Now he dominates the glass, can run the floor, and is much more mobile. Your talking about a 7'1 270 lb center playing on a high level of basketball dominating. If he was in this years draft he definitely would go in front of some of the centers that are projected at the end of the lottery.

Lets really think about this for a second.

First off, I think we can all CLEARLY agree that Kevin Garnett is better than Pau Gasol. IMO, that's like comparing Devin Harris to Chris Paul. Are Harris and Gasol top-10 in their position when you factor all of the skills they have? Probably. But unlike Garnett and Paul, they aren't even considered to be the best at their position.

Kevin Garnett, the superior player, was traded for a big expiring (Ratliff), a young stud PF (Jefferson), two 1st rounders, and role players (Green, Gomes, Telfair).

Pau, the interior player, was trade for virtually the same amount on an expiring contract, two first rounders (that at the time pegged to be more valuable than a Celtic first rounder), a talented combo guard in Crittenton, and a project in Marc Gasol.

When you consider who went out and who went in, it's clear that the Gasol trade isn't really robbery at all. It's fair when you look at the big picture. Sure, Jefferson in a package dominates what the Lakers gave for Gasol, but the Lakers also didn't land a player like KG.
