I read it earlier today, but as a fan, I really don't want Redd. He's seriously overpriced, he's a chucker and he doesn't play defense.

if you could get him at a discount i'm sure you would make a play for him , and i'm pretty sure you would of wanted him when you was playing boston , i know lebron would of wanted him.

I think Redd is a good match....sure he doesn't play defense...but would you try hard if u were playin for the bucks?
I dono I think this season you can look at his stats and w.e. and throw em away. He is a competitor but when you keep on losing it definitely effects players and the way they play.
He would be the best shooter on our team, in fact team USA has him almost locked in on their team because they consider him one of the best shooters in the league.
Our defensive system could cover up for his bad D, but I think with another summer of Team USA and being along side LeBron we will see an inspired Redd.
He is Buckeye, and was probably our number one SG signing attempt before he resigned with the bucks and left us with larry pubes.
He is a lil pricey, but if we can get him for a Gasol give away, or even a lil more. I take that trade.
He gives us the scorer the Cavs need so that our offense can function and so LeBron will stay in CLE

Surprise, surpirse! TheOUTLAW doesn't like a trade involving the Cavs, never thought I'd see that in my life time... oh wait.

The Cavs have very little to offer teams besides our expiring contracts, so if we can get a player who is of the caliber of Michael Redd we should be dancing with joy. I mean, we had WALLY SZCZERBIAK starting at SG in the playoffs.

We are not in a position to be picky with who we acquire... I'd rather have Michael Redd's poor defense and dynamic offensive game than Wally or Sasha playing there.

Our defense isn't really the issue anyways, it is the horrible offense and the pressure on LeBron to make everything happen.

If you asked LeBron, don't you think he would want Redd pretty badly?

Redd is probably one of the few high profile players without major character issues that the CAVs could obtain. If his numbers hadn't been going down for the last two seasons, Redd probably wouldn't be available.
It all comes down to what the CAVs would have to give up to get him which greatly limits my enthusiasm.

I don't hate all trade, just ones I think we're overpaying on. Now I can live with Redd, but understand his limitations as well as what he's going to cost us. I don't like much of any trade that has us giving up Varejao another player and a first for him (or that others that have us giving up 2 firsts) because I just don't see the value in that since we need that pick so that we can get another big man. If we are giving up that much we need to get a player with more substance than Redd.

I, for one, would definitely not mind if Redd is in Cleveland. We need an ideal sidekick to help LeBron do some scoring load. So what if his defense isn't one of his strengths or if he is a little overpriced? He is probably the only all star player we can obtain this off season.

Redd is still a perfect fit for me. If Coach Brown could improve formerly horrible defensive players like Z, LeBron, Gooden, Sczcerbiak, and even Damon Jones then Im not too worried about Redd's D. Besides our focus is more on team defense than 1 on 1 D anyway.

We need a scorer. Plain and simple. Redd can fill it up in a hurry, and is a guy not afraid to shoot, and wont always be looking to defer to LeBron like everyone on our team.

Of course its all dependent on the price, but if its only Andy, a future pick, and expirings or something like that you do it without hesitation. We'll just have to wait and see what Ferry can cook up.

Redd would be a good addition but I still think to truly contend for a title we need to upgrade at PF.

Might have to fill that void through the draft though, good PF's are hard to come by..

Redd would be a great fit here. Like someone said above he wouldnt be too preoccupied with defering to lebron, and would look for his shot (imagine someone looking to shoot on this team who could actually shoot), and wouild provide scoring when Lebron is out of the game.

I believe we could upgrade the PF with the mle and or the draft. And with redd and gibson on the floor the other team would pay dearly for loading up to stop Lebron.

I could also settle for Redd however I'm only willing to give up Andy expiring & next yrs 1st {I'm hesitant about the first rounder but we shouldn't be picking this high again if we obtain Redd} But I also agree with B-Mac if Mike B can convince several players on this squad who thought their best defense was offense i.e. Sasha, DJ, Lebron,Z I'm sure he could have the same soothing affect on Redd. So yes I would subscribe to this deal although I would rather have B.D.

I definitely agree, defense will not be a concern with Redd. Brown and our team defense will more than make up for any of his defensive weaknesses. I mean even Wally, totally slow and unathletic (now at least), was at least a solid defender in the playoffs. If were were able to land Redd and keep our pick to draft a Speights or Koufus, I don't think the Cavs fans could be much happier about this offseason. Also, if we were able to land Redd somehow, I guarantee we'd get a couple guys ala Posey and PJ Brown to join the Cavs. Having said that, Redd is definitely not the only option for the Cavs. But he's definitely not a bad option, in any way, shape, or form.

You guys crack me up thinking that the Cavs defense is some miraculous thing that can cover up players defensive inadequacies. Sure, it did help Wally, but if you ask Seattle fans etc they'd have told you that Wally always give his all, he just lacks lateral quickness. But as long as he's making his rotations the Cavs were okay on defense. However, it would be a problem if he came here and didn't give the effort (much like he's done in Milwaukee). Then the Cavs defense would completely fall apart in the same way that it did at times with Gooden missing his rotations.

heck yeah i want redd on this team, him and lebron play really good together on team usa. but yeah i agree we should not under any circumstances give up this years pick to get him maybe 09 or 10 or maybe our 2 second rounders in 09. also i think any trade involving redd would also involve us taking on one of the bucks contarcts they don't want (grazdic, or simmons) as this board has talked about before

if that happens i'd prefer simmons and redd coming to CLE then after that using our pick on a big man (as long as he is the best big avalible i'd be happy)

Although it is also true that Redd's defensive inconsistencies are highlighted due to the entire team's poor defensive performance and understanding.
