OT/My Q and A with Tampa Bay Rays President Matt Silverman

Post#1 » by craig01 » Tue May 27, 2008 11:51 pm

I know, it's a basketball forum, but I know some of you live in this region and have some interest in the Rays.

This is a Q and A interview that I did with Matt Silverman, the Rays President.

This ownership group is really sharp, and the franchise may soon become dominant in the AL. The pieces are all there.

Here's the link.

Craig,

I read the interview earlier.

It was outstanding.

A question about one of the final questions.

Do you have a sense that this ownership group is more committed to resolving the FSN dispute?

On another note, there are no worries about linking some important threads like this here.

Orlando, Tampa Bay and Jacksonville will soon truely be one community and five forums here on RealGM.

Stay Tuned...........

Not really. At least at this point in time.

I did feel the need to throw it out there, hoping at least a combination of professional teams might induce some pressure.

I wasn't sure how aware the Rays were about the lack of broadcast availability in this and other regions due to Britehouse and also weak secondary radio affiliates.

Ran into him at the Disney series. He was very approachable (nobody knew who he was) and consented to a Q and A for realgm. Been trading emails for a few weeks now.

Super nice fella.

Craig,

Hopefully something will be resolved on the FSN front.

This cable company when it was Time Warner has been in this dispute with FSN since it was Sportschannel. It goes back to the early 80's.

We deserve to have it so we can watch all of the Magic, Devil Rays games and some Marlins games.

Hopefully, they will work something out that is fair for everyone and so we do not have to go through this anymore.

BTW: N4u, I meant pro sports not college.

Nice job Craig, very professional. Quick question, did you do this with a tape recorder and did you have the questions thought out ahead of time? The questions seemed very well thought out and detailed to be off the cuff. If it was, even more Kudos to you sir.

Nah,

It was a written Q and A.

Thanks, but I'm too long in the tooth to be off the cuff....
