It's interesting that you should bring up the fact that he jumped straight from HS to the NBA.
Mike D never emphasised rebounding not defense so it's not surprising that Amare never really became good at either.

We really need Paul Silas as an assistant coach right now.

Marion gets so many boards because he is the best player in the NBA at reading the play.

I agree that Marion had grest rebounding instincts while amare does not. Amare can get double digit rebounds if he really wanted to dominate the glass. Fact is he doesnt bring it night in and night out as far as defense and rebounding.

I think Charles would be a good mentor for him and so does Silas. I prefer Silas because he has some coaching experience.
