Agree or Disagree: Fans need to be more professional .....

Post#1 » by JordansBulls » Wed May 28, 2008 2:23 pm

I hear many times how it is always about the refs not getting the calls right and fans continue to say they were cheated out of a win.

Seriously, if someone is going to complain everytime about their team when they lose as if it was the refs fault, then why even watch the game?

It would just save you from having a headache so to speak.

People have to understand that basketball is probably the toughest sport to officiate correctly and on any given play a foul could be called and at times some calls need not be called.

I am not a big fan of foul being called at the end of the game unless of the course the player couldn't get the shot off or if the shot was no where near close to the rim.

With that in mind, do you agree or disagree with the following?

Fans need to be more professional about win their team wins or losses a game?

I agree for the most part, but at the same time

fans are fanatical

No they don't NEED to be but it would be nice. I always say when my team loses the refs cheated, when they win it's because of good defense.

Fans don't get paid, so they can be as unprofessional as they like (Though I agree that the referees have a tough job and all teams feel like they get robbed every once in a while).

Fans are there to raise the level of intensity! Being "professional" would mean synchronized chants that were only of positive nature towards our team and not the opponent.
I think that half the fun of going to a game is heckling and trying to get under the opposing teams skin.
Make them prove their profesionalism by playing through the fans unprofessionalism.

Who cares? I don't care who complains about what because I don't have to read it or listen to it if I don't want to.

And wouldn't thinking that fans need to be more professional simply amount to complaining about people complaining?

Do fans need to avoid being hooligans? Yes

Do they need to be well behaved? Yes

Do they need to be ejected and banned when they toss objects at players and/or use racial slurs? YES!

But do they need to be professional? Not at all.

Maybe you can ask such things from the players and coaches, but fans are free to say whatever the hell they want.

Should be, but most fans are immature and looking to grasp on to any excuse as to why there team lost.

i think when your team losses the way the spurs did last night, it is tough for a spurs fan to say "they won fairly" being against calls is part of being a fan IMO.

As a Fan, i think we should get all the calls for us and none against us.

Even Barry himself said that was a good no-call... As did the coach...

The Lakers won that game fair and square, they were up for ALL 48 minutes and completely out-played the Spurs on every level.

And besides, not to re-hash this, but Barry traveled before he was even fouled on that last play. The better team clearly won that game.

Yeah, but remember...Barry and Pops are professionals, not fans.

This seemed like a thread that needed to be bumped because many times we see a big disparity in fouls called, etc, but even so fans shouldn't be irate about the situation.

I have never seen so much blaming of the officials as I have in this playoffs. It's annoying and childish and it takes away from actual basketball talk.
