You're not getting rid of anything when you bring in a free agent, so I don't feel the NBA should have free agency. The draft lottery should be gotten rid of as well. Drafting and good, fair trades where you have to get rid of close to equal amount should be allowed, but nothing else. All teams whether big market or small market would have an equal chance. Some teams(Celtics with Red Auerbach) can recognize talent, while some teams(Lakers) can't.

you're living in the dark ages. i'm sure you'd also like to go back to a nba that consisted of 8 to 10 teams so you can see another celtic dynasty

again, ancient history. i'm guessing you weren't old enough to watch the glory years for the celts back in the 50s and 60s...................so enjoy your father's stories about it. what i've been fortunate enough to witness was the lakers winning 8 titles in the last 27 years

but lets not worry about the Lakers right now, lets focus on the Pistons since the Lakers have the ability to actually close out games quickly both away and at home .

Im actually worried about all the OLD folks on the Cs .
I was wondering if you guys can resign Doc as a player coach , you know since you have Sam C. and P.J and Ray ......... Im only playing you guys arent that OLDDDDDD..

Cousy was a celt after Red said he wasnt any good and that 4 other players were better. The other GMs gambled they could get Cousy in the 2nd rd and Red snatched him

Russell was traded for because the Owner of the Hawks was either a racist or was sympathetic/paranoid of his racist fans.
"Too many colored players on our team already."

Its not that tough when you consider that even if you are the best team in the NBA you still get the #8 pick every yr. Hondo was the last pick of the 1st rd. He was picked 8th.

Both the Celtics and Lakers owe many of there titles to playing in a league where most owners dont care about Ws and are only interested in $$$. I will give credit though that both franchises were willing to do whatever it took to win. I wish more GMs and Owners felt that way. The simple fact that most were not and almost as many today (Grizz, Sonics, Bobcats, Hawks, T Wolves, Bullets, and especialy the Bulls, Clippers and Suns) are much more conceraned about the lux tax than they are about the standings. Even my own Pistons could have several championships this decade if the billionare owner would have had the attitude "Im going to die soon I want to win now because I cant take the money with me."

Honestly your worth $4 Billion whats the big deal with paying 10mil in lux tax for 4 or 5 yrs??

I'd assume there was some tanking involved, but I don't feel it was overly obvious(like the Heat this year, for instance) and they didn't tank for the entire season. The team just stunk without Pierce, so the 18-game losing streak was an indication of how bad the team was rather than any tanking attempt.

yeah dood, it's not like there was a Celtics player complaining about tank....oh wait
