Been saying it for over a year now.

If Claxton would do this instead of holding on for some remote chance at a minimum contract in a couple of years, it would enable the Hawks to sign both Joshes AND David Andersen.

When was the last time Speedy played? I thought that if you don't play for 2 years your contract is picked up by insurance?

Speedy's contract should have been picked up by insurance already. What you are thinking about is whether speedy will come completely off of the Hawks cap. And basically that will just require him to decide to retire. Last we heard (and this is MONTHS ago) was that he was trying to rehab the knee and was going to make another try at it in training camp this year. If that didn't work then maybe he would consider retiring. After the bibby trade this mattered far less, before that was going to cost the Hawks real caproom this offseason. Now its pretty academic.

Speedy can be a huge help to this team if he is healthy but staying healthy seems to be his problem. Having him come off the bench would be huge because he is a great defensive guard and it would allow Acie to take on the scoring role with the second unit.

Ho hum. Perhaps we can resurface this topic next year.

Again.
