Cuban passed on Kobe straight up for Dirk?

Post#1 » by Dr. Laker » Thu May 29, 2008 12:29 am

That's what he said on Galloway and Company today - it's in the last 30 seconds of the podcast http://sports.espn.go.com/stations/espn1033/

Thank heaven that he turned it down!

thank God he turned it down indeed...

coz if the mavs lost like they did in the playoffs, then kobe would go out for another trade demand... its hard having a spoiled brat like kobe... you've got to do everything to pacify the baby...

I could just picture Kobe driving and drawing 5 defenders and passes it out to 4 Luke Waltons

Kobe would have vetoed the trade.

Dallas wouldn't be as attractive without Dirk.

^^ and kobe couldnt have done squat in big D by himself... he hasnt acheived anything when shaq left LA... prior to the gasol trade, the lakers havent been serious contenders.... so dallas with kobe sans dirk is just like LA without gasol...

Would have been a bad trade for Dallas. No disrespect to Kobe, but you need a good PF more than you need a good SG-SF.

For once, we're all in total agreement...

Wow...

Edit: Added the word 'all'...
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

damn you guys are stupid

have bass at the 4

kobe is way better than dirk

look what Kobe did with the lakers without Gasol
with a good shooting supporting cast like dallas

you guys would have had a ring already

Kobe wouldn't have choked in the finals

Dirk's biggest problem is that he doesn't whine enough. He needs to cry and demand a trade like KG, Pierce, Gasol, and Kobe.

Then the Mavs will be forced to make some moves one way or another (hopefully the most logical one of trading Dirk and start rebuilding).

Too bad the lakers didn't bite on Howard, Harris, Diop, and picks for Kobe. Pau got bent over by Duncan and they still beat the spurs in 5 games. Sub Dirk in for Pau and that team is unbelievable.

I can't believe you guys wouldn't want Kobe, he's the best player in the NBA. I would have done that deal in a heartbeat, then get Kidd and just run teams out of the gym, with a real finisher in Kobe.

Dallas fans just don't like to cheer for athletes with character issues. It's been that way as long as I can remember. And it isn't just basketball. Remember when the Cowboys had the accusations of drug abuse and rape years ago? What about the reaction when Kenny Rogers pushed the cameraman? Fans turned their backs on them.

Kobe is a great player. But the truth is, he belongs in LA. They can accept him there, because he fits in with the lifestyle there. Kobe in Dallas?! Playing for the Mavericks?! Come on, be honest, can you really see that happening?

whoever wouldn't deal dirk for kobe straight up is the biggest basketball idiot ever and you should be ashamed of yourself. Kobe is the best player in the entire league. He can single handedly take a game over by himself. He can score at will. He is the 2nd best thing to Michael Jordan and is going to win the championship this year. I'm a die hard mavs fan, but some of you mavs fans but Dirk on an unbelievable pedestal. Yeah Dirk May be top 10 but I would rather have Lebron James, Dwight Howard, Kobe Bryant, Yao Ming, maybe dwayne wade and amare stoudemire

I have the same sentiments. Kobe is the best player in the League, he's going to last longer than Dirk Nowitzki will.

There's no question he's the best player in the league by far, the issue is would he be able to have more success with this team than Dirk? Like I said in the first page: Kobe driving the lane to throw lobs at "Mr. Hands of Stone" Dampier or kick it off to guys like Stack, Harris/Kidd and post-2nd quarter Josh Howard will make him ask for a trade in a week.

Return to Dallas Mavericks
