Mike Bell to wear #30
Numbers game rewarding to Bell

In the eighth grade, Mike Bell wore a No. 30 Broncos jersey to school every day.
It's 10 years later, and Bell will wear that same number to work every day. But he felt the need for permission from Terrell Davis, the man who made that number famous in Denver.
"T.D. said it's OK, so I'm going to wear 30," Bell said Monday.
A rookie running back for the Broncos last season, Bell has agreed to sell the No. 20 he wore to free-agent pickup Travis Henry. Henry stuck to a previous offer that he would pay $10,000 for the right to take the number he wore while playing at Tennessee. Bottom line: Bell gets the cash and the opportunity to wear the number Davis wore from 1995-2001.
"I think he was surprised that I asked him," Bell said of Davis. "But he was cool about it, and I appreciate it."

There was a push to get 30 retired right after TD retired, but Pat Bowlen said that the bar for retired #'s was set with Elway. It's a damn shame Elway would have never won a Super Bowl without TD.

Or vice-versa. I dont think, it had anything to do with the superbowl. Elway's greatness was already cemented. That was just the thing that pushed him over the top, he was always going to be the greatest QB to ever put on the Broncos uni. No other Bronco ever, or will ever mean to that organization more than what Elway meant to it, that goes for the city too.
But like I said, some of those numbers really need to retire. I can kinda sorta see where Bowlen is coming from. But, I dont agree with it fully.
