MAn Game 5 of Celtics /Pistons might have been one of the most entertaining broadcasts ever. Among the highlights.

Mike Breen accusing JVG for ruining basketball in the 90's to which JVG said his teams were finesse team.

JVG and Breen screaming at each other over the PJ Brown flagrant frown.

Jackson calling Breen out when prince did the exact same play later in the game.

JVG taking shots at TNT.

JVG also had a good line in the previous games when he starting talking about the SATs and then asked Mark Jackson who took his SAT's for him.

Van Gundy's the best color commentator I've heard in years. TNT is good for Inside the NBA, but I only really watch the actual games, so I prefer to watch the ESPN broadcasts with JVG. If Van Gundy moved to TNT, that would be perfect.

the living legend . . .

and whoever you want to pair him with (him and marv were a good combo)

gus johnson is funny because he is such a homer during the commentating, that he tricks fans into actually thinking the knicks aren't completely awful

Mike Breen is like the Tim Duncan of play-by-play guys. He's knowledgable and solid, but not flashy. One thing that's great about him that goes without notice, is how good a job he does calling games for die-hard fans and casual fans alike. That's pretty tough to do.

Based on that comparison, I'd say Kevin Harland is the Amare of play-by-play guys. You can pretty much figure that one out.

Marv=Jordan.

And yes, Breen, JVG, and Jackson are a great team. Great chemistry, extremely entertaining.

JVG was hillarious today. That whole "It's war between me and Doug Collins" thing was gold

Breen: "BANG!" "BANG!"

Jackson: "That was a grown man move" "Momma there goes that man"

JVG:

one highlight:

either mark jackson or breen sucking up to lebron- oooh lebron easily slashes through the paint for a layup

jvg: yea, well it's easy when you take 3 or 4 steps to do it
(vs the celtics) '

i would actually like to see JVG as the head referee

Whats odd about JVG is that he gives on air advice that his teams never followed. He mentioned Boston pushing the pace and attacking when up but his teams never did so.

They're pretty good.

But I love Kevin Harlan and Doug Collins.

I'm going to miss Collins in the booth next year.

No, no that's not right at all.

It's like someone trying to be solid and intellegent but failing.

Almost every game you'll here him call players by the wrong name or have trouble listing the score diffrential [it's 9 green, I mean the numbers aren't even big in a DET-BOS game].

And you'll even here a late "puts it in call". If he cared about the game or could easiely be a play by play he'd say that after the shot is made. Occasionally he'll wait a second after it bounced and like he was reading lines but forgot will say "and puts it in!".

Honestly if Mike Gorhman wasn't the Celt's play by play man I'd hope ESPN could put him in. Maybe it's because he did radio for so long or he has so much experience but Green doesn't seem to fit the bill, especially if he's going to be NBA's personal referee blowjob man.
