Trade Idea

Post#1 » by MP Eagle » Thu May 29, 2008 4:46 am

Twolves and Bobcats:

Bobcats get the #3 and jaric

Twolves get Okafor and #8

This solves the Twolves problem looking for a legit big man, and you can still get a top 10 pick.

Next package telfair and Walker and bring in one of the following free agents:
1. Ben Gordon (Chicago)
2. Pargo (From New orleans)
3.Carlos aroyo (from orlando)

If we could deal the #3 and Jaric for Okafor and the #8 (though Char had #9), the Wolves would do it. Young, defensive, talented big to pair with Al, out of Jaric's contract, and a top 10 pick.....

Sign me up.

.....even if we did have to deal with the sizable contract Okafor will surely want.

I like this even better then the Bogut deal, principally its the same thing. I think in the long run Al and Okafor would work out better too.

Why is Char interested in doing this? Do they wish to put Mayo at the point? They seem fairly crowded at the wing. They have Felton at the 1, tough I have read some misgivings on his ability to run the show. Has he fallen that far out of favor? Are they looking at someone other than Mayo? Bayless perhaps? Can't be Lopez since they are trading away a big, can it?

Just seems to me Char would be giving up too much, not that I mind taking it. I should just be quiet and be happy if it's out there.

That trade is too good to be true. Just look at the Bobcats roster next year. I am confident Randolph will be picked 8th and he will be a steal.

Okafor Mohammed
Randolph May
Wallace Morrison
Richardson Caroll
Felton Boykins

Okafor is exactly the player we need next to Jefferson. I'd do the deal even if we didn't get the #8 in return.

#3, Jaric

FOR

Okafor.

Okafor/Richard
Jefferson/Smith
Brewer/Gomes
McCants/Snyder
Foye/Telfair
And our 2 2nd rounders to fill out the roster.

I am sure there is no proof for this. Also, CHar would not want Jaric's contract. Most likely the deal would be

Okafor+8 for Walker+3+(either Shad, 2nd's or miami/bos next year)

This assumes Char does not resign Okafor also.

I'd do even that deal. sign me up.

this is btw probably one of the rare trades in which I'd "love" to see shad traded

Been discussed many times before here. Ill take it and run if we can get it where Okafor is making less than Big Al for sure.

This is a trade where if we had to move mccants we actually get some value not like moving him for a late first rounder

yea it is 9, my bad.

btw delux, a late 1st has value with the amount of decent center prospects in that range.

Its is 9 but like stated still a move I like to see us make. You figure we dont waste the chance that when we get some cap that we cant get anyone to sign here. Plus okafor is a good fit next to Al. Still would be plenty of good options at 9 as well

Can someone explain to me why Charlotte would trade Okafor and leave a gaping hole in the front court? Besides him, they really don't have anyone that deserves a starting role up front.

If we trade them Walker, McCants, and #3, they either take Mayo(who doesn't fill a need) at three or they take Brook Lopez(who they might be able to snag at #9 anyways). Drafting Brook Lopez would be a lateral move or worse for them in my opinion at #3.

The only possible way that this trade could happen is if Charlotte DESPERATELY wants to cut salary. Why would they do that when they have the lowest payroll in the league(according to hoopshype).

I think it would be more if Char doesnt want to pay him a max contract or if he doesnt want to resign with them

I guess the question then is whether or not Glen Taylor would be willing to shell out max contract money for him.

By the way Rev, that youtube video in your sig is excellent. It's awefully hard to view all the rough times this franchise has been through in the last 10 years. But at the end of the video, we're reminded that the future has never been brighter. Great find.

I dont see meka and Daly being an ideal frontline. That would be a sick defensive front but they would have no scoring pressence in the paint.
