Toronto fan wanting thoughts on a trade idea

Post#1 » by theSkinny » Thu May 29, 2008 3:34 pm

Great season guys I thoroughly enjoyed witnessing your massive winning streak....I had a trade idea and wanted some input from some Houston fans...

So I have a scenario and any input would be appreciated.

Toronto sends a package of
TJ, Bargs, Joey Graham 17 and 2010 first

For Yao.

TJ would provide an incredible pg for Tmac and allows you to either keep Rafer or move him. TJ's injury concerns are really not much greater than most players with some sort of exsiting cojndition and his contract is fully insured. Bargs would become a very effective passing big man for Adleman to utilize which I think is a better fit than Toronto. Joey is an expiring this year and can play some back up minutes at SF and is a warm body for practice. 17th pick could land you one of Batum, CDR, Rush ect.

I dont think I have to explain why Toronto would want Yao but picturing a lineup of Bosh Yao Parker Kapono and Calderon makes me think it is a real ECF potential.

Thanks in advance.

You know what the sad part about it is? You probably think this is somewhat close to being a fair deal?? Thats f*cken (Please Use More Appropriate Word)!! Geez... I guess this cant be stressed enough!!! Toronto has nothing to offer for Yao.

Lock this crap... and next time you want to post a trade idea (no matter how f*cken awful it might be) then post in the thread at the top of the page. Thats whats its there for!

Good day.

bargnani? no offense, but imo chuck hayes is better than him.

i would do calderon+bosh+first round pick of this year for yao.

You have the right idea, but the players included in the package are suitable for our team.

T.J. isn't a significant improvement over Rafer. His outside shooting, while it has improved, is no better than Rafer's, and his defense remains weak. Our ideal PG must cover both outside shooting and defense.

If Yao must be replaced, we'll need a post player in return; not a jumpshooter. I am also hesitant to believe that Bargnani can play center in the western conference. Plus, if you want to talk about having a high post passer who can be integrated into the Adelman system, we already have Luis Scola, who I believe is a much better passer.

I don't know much about Joey Graham, but if he appears to be just an expiring contract without any significant asset. If that is the case, we don't need him. We already have Bobby Jackson and Steve Francis, whose contracts are expiring.

I think you know where I am headed with this post. With that being said, the chances of trading Yao is slim. Moreover, if we were to part with either of our stars, it will be McGrady. At this point, we're not looking to rebuild, and our starters are pretty much set. It's our bench that needs improvement.

I am pretty sure our GM Darryl Morey will ask for both Bosh, Calderon, and picks if Toronto is asking for Yao.

Don't worry about it, man. You at least made a decent effort. Its just most fans don't take kindly to offers for their best player without either of the other team's best player (which IMO are Calderon and Bosh) coming back.

I agree with you Rox... I just wasnt sure how everyone still felt about Yao since he hasnt played more than 57 games the past three seasons, and your team playing so well even when he went down. Coupling that with Adlemans style of coaching I thought it was worth a shot to see where their fans stand. And I feel a consitent vibe.

Yao is about as untradeable a player as there is. The Rockets have invested too much into him and getting a relationship w/China that there is virtually no way they would trade him. Combine that w/China Sports/Gov't interest in Yao and they would also have to sign off on any trade-and they would only agree to a trade to a bigger market such as LA.
Yao's not going anywhere.

Les wants an NHL franchise...Yao for the Toronto Maple Leafs?

I think it's a fair trade offer. Yao is like Andre the Giant. How long before this dude has a heart attack? Bargs is easily a better post passer than Scola (whoever said otherwise).
Although I think this deal would be more fair if Jose were to replace TJ.

Bosh is a young stud PF. Calderon is an up and coming top 10 PG.
What is Yao? Sure he is a dominant post presence but there is a price to pay when you're body is that big. I don't see his career lasting another 5 seasons. Typically the joints/respiratory system of people his size are not built to last. He probably suffers from some disease that got him to that size.
To get to my point, you would be foolish to think twice about BOSH/CALDERON for YAO

So get the hell out of here , why do you want him even for Ford and Bargnani if he is so bad.

This thread would've been locked in like 3 seconds if the topic creator wasn't a mod. This is honestly one of the worse trade proposals i've seen in a long long time. And i visit the trade board quite frequently.

Obviously thats why we win way more many games in the hard west, where you guys would have a hard time making the playoffs, if not that you guys wouldn't even be in the playoffs. But anyways, Yao gets your franchise MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH more money than both of those guys combined. 2nd, I brought that trade idea up because thats how much he means to us, we don't the crap that the OP offered, if Yao is involved, Bosh needs to be to, if not, case closed.
