If Kobe Wins a Title this Year Where Does He Rank All Time?

Post#1 » by SDChargers#1 » Thu May 29, 2008 6:27 pm

The title pretty much explains it. If Kobe wins the Championship this year, where does he rank on the All Time list...RIGHT NOW.

1) Michael Jordan
2) Magic Johnson
3) Kareem Abdul Jabaar
4) Wilt Chamberlin
5) Bill Russell
6) Larry Bird
7) Shaquille O'Neal
8 ) Tim Duncan
9) Moses Malone
10) Kobe

So, I say 10th!

Hakeem would be in the top 10 btw. Anyways, Kobe would probably be 12-18 in-between their.

Right now, I have it

1. Jordan
2. Wilt
3. Russell
4. Kareem
5. Magic
6. Bird
7. Shaq
8. Duncan
9. West
10. Oscar
11. Hakeem
12. Kobe
13. Dr. J
14. Moses
15. Havlicek

I think a title puts Kobe in the Top 10 ahead of Oscar and Hakeem.

Top 5 are:

MJ
Kareem
Wilt
Magic
Russell

Then the next 5 are:

Bird
Shaq
Hakeem
Duncan
Moses Malone

If he wins he could replace Moses Malone in the top 10.

Oscar and West just miss out.

in no order:

russell
hakeem
shaq
jordan
wilt
kareem
duncan
magic
bird

those are the guys in my top 9. When i consider the career and the player, kobe and west are kinda close, though kobe has the edge. If he wins a title this year, he gets in my top 10 no question, and he edges closer to duncan, who is 9th for me. He starts to set himself up for possibly passing others. But this one title wouldn't vault him ahead that much for me; it'd just solidify his current status and while getting him closer to the top, top players.

I'd put him at #10, I think he ends his career in the top 5.

I'd put him 10th all time if the Lakers win this season behind MJ, Wilt, KAJ, Magic, Bird, Russell, Duncan, Shaq, Dream (not ordered).

not very high.... if Kobe wins back to back championship, then he will get some respect. if he can win three in a row without Shaq, then he will be up their with some HOFers

Is that a joke? Kobe is already a sure fire HoFer. If he wins 3 more titles in a row, then the question becomes between him and Jordan.

If he wins 3 in a row he would be in the top 5 as long as he wins as the best player on the team and collects the finals mvp's.

if he won 3 in a row the finals mvp and 2-3 season mvps, he would officially be number 3 at least.

The real Q is what does Kobe have to do to get into the Holy 6.

At least another league MVP or two, and a ring or two more (providing he wins this season).

You can't put Shaq ahead of the Dream. You just can't. Not if you factor in DEFENSE and what Hakeem did to the Shaq in the finals with a worse supporting cast. Shaq was utterly dominate at his peak but he needed an elite closer to get it done due to his defensive/freethrow liabilities.
