No more chances, Splitter already agreed for 2 year contract with Tao, unfortunuly for us, Tau offred to him a contract 8 times better then San Antonio did, something like 7/8 millions, that

Another huge factor that's starting to creep into trying to sign euro players is the crappy US dollar. The worse it gets the more lucrative playing in euroleague becomes and the harder it will be to pull these players away. The euro dollar is extremely high right now, worth much more than the US dollar. The NBA no longer has the advantage with salaries over the rest of the leagues in the world like it used to.

Gimpy? sorry for my lack of vocabulary...

Wow, Nene and Splitter just played a single tournament togueter, Nene was recovering from a injury (yes, he is always is...) but Nene has potential to be a all star, ask for Tim Duncan...

Gimpy=out of action, can't play, always hurt, prone to injuries.

He is a decent player but his value doesn't equal his paycheck.

agreed with BR..

I like Nene, I would like him on our team for the right price if he didn't have health and motivational issues..he did a solid job defending Duncan in the playoffs last year, making him work for everything..

I love Nene when he's right, but I don't know how we could get Nene, anyway, aside from the baggage he brings.

Splitter's game was just outstanding. It's not only about the numbers, but how he dominated the low post, became the go-to player for Tau facilitating its offensive game and scored in the most crucial moments of the game. Everybody in Spain is raving about his performance.

Enjoy Splitter's highlights of yesterday's monster game, in the playoff's final. Wait a few seconds till a new window appears.

figured id help some of my fellow spurs fans back away from the ledge a bit. this article is in portuguese, but its an interview with splitters agent since the story of the contract extension broke. he says the offer is on the table from tau, but splitter has signed nothing, and wont decide until after the spanish league finals (ie, in about a week). heres a small bit, courtesy of the fish of babel:

Honestly if I was him I would take the money in Europe... I just hope that I am wrong, and if so I will really respect his character by proving his worth in the NBA.

Agree BR, Tiago would be crazy IMO to not take that deal.

i think he'll come, ive been grueling over this for days and i dunno if what it is but i think he'll come. maybe ive hit rock bottom with this situation and i can only think upwards but a lot of the recent posts make sense. he does have money, his dream is the NBA, he promised the spurs last year, he hasnt signed anything, pop has time to fly over to talk with him, he knows the situation hes coming into (knowing the spurs are old and hes almost like the savior), and at the end of the day he'll make more money here in the long run. even if he turns out to be a bust, the money will be there in europe. ive had a couple of drinks but i feel good about this situation.
