Psychological reason for RA wearing a white sleeve

Post#1 » by boykins_2 » Thu May 29, 2008 4:50 pm

The guy has been ice cold coming into last nights game and he shows up with that white sleeve on his shooting arm.

His shooting slump was all pychological anyway. Mentally he was thinking about what was wrong to much. That prolonged the slump.

Either him or the coaching staff came up with that gimmick to wear the sleeve. That way he would focus on something else during the game, you see him tugging on it all game.

What ever works baby!!

boykins, I think you're right. It gave him something else to think about, as you said, like tugging on it during the stoppages of play. Hopefully, he'll keep wearing the sleeve and keeps playing like he did last night.

Your right, it was his left arm, my theory still stands.

I believe he wears that because Hamilton was scratching his arm. That's what was said.

It looks good on him, he should keep it. And it works! Maybe it will be like Hamilton's mask and he'll were it every game.

Speaking of Rip, I heard that Ray was wearing that arm sleeve because Hamilton was literally 'ripping' up Ray's left arm with his fingernails. Any truth to this?

^ that arm sleeve doesn't go up that far on his arm so trying to protect the whole arm, that arm sleeve is not long enough

Being the dirty GD player he is, Rip probably keeps his nails long in order to claw and scratch when he comes off of those moving picks all game.

Good for Ray!
It's still 17 to 11!!!!

what a idiot. i hate rip hamilton. who scratches grown men in a nba playoff game? i've seen ray gettin scratched up & showin his arm to officials durin breaks due to hamilton actin like a girl wit fingernails. come on rip. be a man. what a cheap way to play. i will jump for joy when or IF an official ever calls rip for when he grabs one of our players' arms. thats pissin me off. its so blatant & i'm sure they've told the refs, so why arent they callin that?

I actually think Rip's much beloved "mask" contributes to his dirty play. It's like snowboarders or skiers - sure I do think the helmet is a good idea but it does contribute to a more fearles streak. Rip can do more without fear or such serious retribution because his head is protected.

In that spirit - can Ray where sleeves on both arms?

It't sad that in NBA you've to wear an armour in order to not get scratched from an opponent, what's that Middle Ages or something?

You think the scratches were intentional in order to never let Ray get in a offensive rhythm? Deep scratches hurt man!!!

It's just that with this team (Detroit) nothing surprise me. I have already seen our guys get kicked in the b@ll$ (House), held (KG), hit with a ball (Ray), choked (Ray), and scratched (Ray) in this series and most of the times we got called for fouls on them.
