LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT

Post#1 » by Jimmy103 » Thu May 29, 2008 8:15 pm

If the scorer's table accidently fouls a guy out...
The player accidently fouled out plays for the worst team in basketball...
It's a meaningless early season game...
That player is subsequently traded away...
...the NBA can admit their mistake and order a replay of the final 30 seconds of the game

BUT if it's the Western Conference Finals...
The most important momentum swinging game in the entire series, basically deciding the fate of the Spurs dynasty...
The game WILL NOT be restarted and Brent Barry WILL NOT get the right to shoot 2 free throws which would potentially send the game to OT.

The NBA is a mess.

I'm pulling for you guys in 7!!!!

It sucks, but it happened. No point in arguing it, just go balls out in Game 5 and try to extend the series.

And as an aside

I'd like to compliment (although there should be no need since it's how you're SUPPOSED to act) the Spurs and their fans for handling the entire situation with class.

Rasheed Wallace should be at home taking notes.

its different, the scorers are supposed to keep track of everything and get it right, refs make mistakes and they can't replay every mistake there wouldn't be enough time

Yeah, it sucks. Truth is we should not have been in that situation in the first place. If we could rebound in the first half or if anybody outside of Timmy, Parker and Barry came to play ball the outcome could have been different.

Honestly, I don't even understand the point of the NBA reviewing the play and making that announcement. It doesn't change the outcome of the game, the refs are not penalized. The crew that ref'd last night will still be considered some of the leagues best referee's .

bullsaficianado wrote:The Spurs really haven't played well at all this whole series. They could easily be up 3-1 in this series with sharper play. Letting that 20 point lead disappear in game 1, in game 2 the game is close in the 2nd quarter and in the final mins of the 2nd quarter the Lakers go on a run and the Spurs go down by 9 points and than lose the game by 30 points, and in game 4 they did not rebound the ball well and their shots were not falling.

if they can play sharper and win game 5, send it back to SA win game 6, and force a game 7, that is all you could hope for at this point.

The Lakers to me aren't the better team in this series, they are just smart and capitalizing on the Spurs poor play.

so if they lose tonight, they can blame themselves in this series.

I agree...

To the OP...

Thats absurd. Go back to the end of that game and give Barry 2 freethrows? Are you kidding me? What about the other ridiculous calls that got the Spurs into that situation in the first place? (Duncans travel, Fishers shot hitting the rim, Ginobli's "3", Odoms block that was called a goaltend)

The refs made some horrible calls before that last one... So to re-do that last play (where Barry even traveled before he was fouled) would be a travesity to the game, and an embarrasment to the league.

There were bad calls all game. Ultimately, the Lakers benefited from the horrible officiating. Enjoy. You were just handed a gift.

I could care less what fans have to say about us being favored by the league if we in fact close it out and win it all. Fact is, this team has worked their butts off all year long and don't deserve to hear the BS from around the league.

The Lakers deserve to win for the simple fact that we're the Lakers.

I can understand that the Lakers have piss poor fans like yourself. Stick to the Laker board if you believe that the Lakers deserve to win due to the fact that they are the Lakers.

It doesn't matter what board I'm on. If anyone is talking about putting an asterstick on a win that we earned, I'm going to defend my team.
