how many NBA Finals has Kobe led his team to?

Can you really say that West led his team? He had Wilt and Baylor(some said he'd be the best player today) in a 9 team league. It's 10 times harder to get to the Finals in a 30 team league.

He played with Baylor, and Wilt in a 9 team league...

Kobe would have had 0 rings if he had gone up against the Celtic machine.

That's absolutely ridiculous. Of course Jerry West was a better player than Baylor and led his team to the Finals year, after year, after year.

10 times harder to get to the Finals in a 30 team league? That makes no sense at all. Every team back then was just that much stronger because there weren't as many of them. Look at the Celtics for example - they were stacked! Jerry West was an unbelievable player, but he even with Baylor's help , he couldn't overcome Russell and Co. In my opinion though, he did the best anyone ever could against them. If you put Kobe, or Jordan, in West's shoes, they wouldn't have been able to overcome Boston and wouldn't come as close as West did.

Shocking to hear this from a Laker fan.

You can't use that. You have to base things on what actually happened barring the player wins as the best and is great on both ends of the court.

Man if you really think West is a better ball player than Bryant you really dont know and havent played basketball. If you're talking about greatness..maybe you might have a case, but the gap is closing real fast with Bryant also having 6-7 years left in him.

Not consistently. Not more than West.

I don't. West was a star in his era but he went to the Finals 9 times in a 9 team league and only won it all once.

Exactly, hes in the top 15, but def. not top 10. Same thing can be argued about Oscar Robertson, when you bring everything into perspective.
