coaching had little to do with it IMO..
the Lakers players were better..
I had a problem with some of Pop's subs and rotations, but the Spurs didn't lose due to coaching..we had PLENTY of opportunities to win games 1, 4 and 5..it wasn't Pop's fault Ginobili played like a rookie..it wasn't Pop's fault nobody on the team could make 3 open 3's that would have given us the lead in game 4 on 3 separate occasions..it's not Pop's fault that some of the players played like idiots..it's not Pop's fault nobody hustled for loose balls and rebounded in game 4..
it was the players..the Spurs players couldn't make open shots, couldn't make smart decisions and didn't hustle..

I absolutely agree....this one series doesnt change anything on whos the better coach. But I am amazed by Phil playing the 2nd unit when we were down 17....and it works

Why couldn't Pop, get his team to get easy buckets like Phil does? Maybe they went on scoring droughts because that team didn't work on offense enough. When players all get their own on offense they work harder in every aspect of the game.
And it was no coincidence the Lakers gave guys like Tony Parker wide open 3s that were bricked. That was Phil too.
Phil got his team to play well on both sides of the floor while Pop got his team to play well on one side.

Phil is a genius. He waited until the 4th quarter of an elimination game before going to the high screen and roll with Kobe and Pau. The Spurs didn't even know what hit them. They never really had time to adjust. That is how a coach can be clutch. Having the Machine on your team helps too.
Props to Phil, GCOAT.

Agreed any other coach would have used it from the beginning and allowed Pop to make his defensive adjustments. He got Pop thinkin he wouldn't but then did at the end.
