According to several sources over the last few weeks, McHale has lined up a trade of both of his high second rounders to get into the first round. In a discussion on the trade board, the question was asked what those picks would be worth when combined. Piggybacking barzali's work

.. the number I landed on was #21. You can examine the math if you're interested here

Anyway, I looked up who had #21, and it made me suspicious. I don't follow the Nets closely, but it seems to me that the Nets get added benefit from the high second rounders. They don't add salary, and you save roster spots and minutes to use on better players. The prospects can be stashed in Europe. And I thought I read (correct me if I'm wrong here), that your owner didn't want to add two first round salaries to the payroll?
I realize this is completely the wrong time to ask about this, with everyone's heads filled with visions of sleepers being available when a late pick rolls around. Every prospect looks like, if he hits, is an all star.
I'm not asking is this a deal YOU'D do. What I'm asking is does this sound like a deal your owner/GM might do?

Unlikely we don't need quality not quantity . Even 3 rookies are a lot .
Maybe if Rod doesn't like the players in range for #21 after the workouts. Kiki has been scouting in Europe and maybe has some good prospects scouted he recomments to be drafted . 2nd rounders are better for Europeans that are already Stars overseas anyway .
The rookie scale doesn't apply for the 2nd round and you can pay 2nd round guys more . So it's easier to bring them over of you drafted them in the 2nd round.
It's possible but not that likely in my eyes. It's more likely we package our picks to trade up for "our guy" if he's not available at #10
