Congratulations, Lakers

Post#1 » by Gutter92 » Fri May 30, 2008 4:30 am

Coming from a Spurs fan, congratulations.

You guys played tough, deserved the win. As Deep3CL said it was fun being able to debate basketball instead of arguing(only game 4 was a semi-exception)

This series was not as lopsided as it appears(the 4-1 series), and I can honestly say I had a lot of fun watching this.

I am looking for another Conference Finals between these 2 teams next year. It is, after all, an odd year :)

Hats off to all the Lakers(minus Sasha with the last shot :-? mean :P, and the fans that boo'd at the game)and the fans on this board.

Good luck in the Finals. Personally I'm rooting for Pistons-Lakers now

congrats guys, from the games that i watched i felt that the lakers deserved to win those games, including game 4.

i definitely have my problems and dislikes of certain lakers (sasha), but today is not the day to discuss them. Good luck in the finals and we'll see you next year.

Cool of you to give congrats. Yeah, that wasn't nice of Sasha. I think he tried to do that once a few seasons ago (regular season and was a layup I think) and got fouled hard for it. The Machine can't get carried away like that.

Good luck next year but not too much since you guys are good in odd years. :p

it was unfortunate that the Spurs couldn't play better..the better, younger team won..congratulations to the Lakers..Kobe's pretty easily the best player in the NBA at this point..hopefully we can give you guys better competition next year with a younger team and Bynum on your side, in an odd year..

good luck in the finals..obviously I'll be cheering against y'all though, it would only be right

Spurs- seriously the classiest org in sports I hope we as a team can adopt that.

Spurs Posters- thank you so much for talking basketball and not going drunk homer. It was a pleasure talking basketball, visiting to see your posts, and you can be proud of your team. The Roaches were a fun team to watch like maybe never before in the playoffs this year. From Duncan's 3, the multiple improbable comebacks, Manu's big game(which may have reinjured him) & ending with a series that was a rollercoaster ride like no other 5 game series I can remember.

Sasha- maybe somebody needs to make a marvel or dc poster with him on it. It wouldn't do any good for me to apologize on his behalf, but I would if I could.

Congrats from a shellshocked Spurs fan. I expected much more from our guys, but you guys impressed the hell out of me with your tenacity and poise when you were down during the games. Clearly the Lakers displayed the championship swagger and fully deserve to be representing the West in the finals.

As a Spurs fan, I feel like we overachieved anyway. We were playing like muck coming into the playoffs and I'm surprised we made it this far.

All the best in the Finals. I'll be rooting for you.

Congrats, guys. Your team out-hustled and out-executed us in the clutch, which is what we normally do to other teams. Good luck in the Finals (and please don't let the perennially overrated KG win a ring!)

now, you had to go there.....

KG overrated ? you really shouldnt "try" being a basketball fan.

please, explain how he is overrated ? I guess they just give away MVP & Defensive player of the year awards, huh ? 11 time all-star is what I call overrated. sssuuure !

please! why would you post something so dumb ?

I have my reasons for KG being overrated. Mostly because people often compare him to Duncan, and I don't think it's really that close. KG's not a #1 guy. Never has been, never will be. Fades in the clutch (why do you think that Boston almost always goes to Pierce, or even Allen for that matter, when they need a clutch basket?). He's a very very good complementary star, but couldn't handle the burden of being the franchise. People say that Duncan has only won because he's had talent around him his whole career, and that if you switch him with KG, the T-Wolves still suck and the Spurs still win titles. I say poppycock to that. The T-Wolves would have gone much deeper in the playoffs with Duncan (not sure about the rings), and the Spurs would only have 1 title ('99) at best.

Total respect for the Spurs and their fans - and I completely expect for them to be right in the mix again nex year after some reloading.

That was a very competetive series and Duncan showed me he still has plenty of game left in him. A few new younger peices and that team will still be very dangerous.
