The Wolves have the rights to the Heats first round draft pick. How will this affect this 2008-2009 season?

The Clippers have the rights to a future Wolves pick so the Wolves have been accused of tanking it to keep the pick (Mark Madsen shooting 3's). Do you think the Heat will engage in similar tactics in order to keep their pick (such as tanking the season), will they make the playoffs, or will Minnesota get the pick?
So will this draft pick influence the way the Heat play next season?

If all goes well, with healthy Wade, Marion, Rose or Beasly, Haslem etc, we should at worse be a playoff team and maybe a 16-18 pick. Hate to give it up, but much better then giving up a top 8 pick or something. At the time, it wasnt a bad trade, we had not picked higher then 20 in like 5 years(since Wade).
Amazing how those draft pick lottery protected can work out, because sometimes it can kill you. Think back to the Memphis traded for Otis Thorpe from the Pistons. They kept putting it off, and the year it ended up being the number 2 pick in the loaded 03 draft, they had to send to the Pistons. Granted, they bombed that pick anyway. But, imagine being the Grizz and at the end of the day losing out on Carmello, Bosh or Wade for Otis Thorpe.
Then, sometimes it goes the other way, like last year with the Hawks/Suns. If they Hawks dont move up one spot(top 3 protected)the suns get the 4th pick...and the Hawks never get Al Horford.. the suns get the pick no matter what this year, but its like 15..big difference.

I don't think it matters too much, not right now anyway. It's not panic time or anything...
For next season:
-If we're awful we get it.
-If we win roughly 35 games we keep it, which means we improved 20+ games and thus are showing some promise anyway.

It's way too early to even guess. At this point we could trade the #2 and get back an all-star and be a 40+ win team for sure. Or we could take Beasley or Rose, not sign anyone in order to have cap space next year and win 20-30 games especially if injuries hit.
I don't think the owed pick is having any influence on potential moves at this point.
