Rule is fine.

The technical assessed to him (and Kendrick Perkins) were not.

I don't know if Rasheed's T was necessary because I'm not sure what he said to get it. Kendrick got it for showing emotion. That T was not necessary as he just made an arm gesture and went down the court w/o saying a word.

this is similar to the amare diaw suspensions last year, these techs are within rasheeds control, just like that one game suspension is too, is under wallaces control. i see no problems with the rule.

personally i think its a dumb rule, same with the one in the regular season maybe b/c im a bit moody if the ref is doing a sh*tty job. not saying i get T'ed up every game but its happened a couple times.

besides who didnt get a chuckle out of rasheed getting 40 T's in his earlier years

THe real problem is that Techs are so arbitrary. I've seen some players bark at refs for hours, no techs. Another player, one demonstrative move, suspension.

Anyways, I think Sheed's next tech comes in Game 6 the first time he does anything SLIGHTLY EMOTIONAL, thus ensuring he sits Game 7 against Boston if necessary.

Threatening to assault a ref if you are not retiring after the game is the act of a moron.

When the ref you threatened to assault is later found to have been involved in gambling on games he worked it makes many look like MORONS.

I would however say that even though it's in the players control, int's not in the NBA's best interest to have suspended those players.

Yes Diaw and Amare broke the rules, but the rule seems pretty unecessary in the first place. I don't think many basketball fans who were not cheering for the Spurs or against the Suns wanted to see Diaw and Amare get suspended for something so trivial.

The league needs to revisit the walking on the court during an altercation rule and the technical foul rule and ask the following questions: Are the rules necessary the way they exist today, and do the rules improve the quality of the game, i.e. the product they are trying to sell.

i don't think the Amare/Diaw suspensions really compare. that's a clear cut rule, although they will still have controversies about it (like whether Duncan should have been suspended for doing a similar thing and what not).
Techs are given out entirely at the discretion of the refs though. Most of them don't make sense to us because of us not being able to hear what's said. However it's obvious to anyone who's watching that players get techs because of reputation frequently. In the case of Sheed he definitely gets more technicals than he deserves.
I don't view this as a personal situation for Rasheed though, it's just a bad rule in general. Getting alot of Technicals in the playoffs is a bad strategy. It doesn't make much sense at all to further penalize a player.

Its just that people dont think its serious enough to get a player barred from a Finals game. I mean Kobe could get ejected from Game 7 of the Finals because he hung on the rim too long.... It IS the rules... It would be Kobe's fault for showboating... he coulda not done it.... but people dont want a Finals game ruined for something so inconsequential. I feel the same way about Tech suspensions.
