Confused

Post#1 » by Boogie-Boogz » Sat May 31, 2008 1:00 am

In The NBA the team winning the game by a fair margine is not suppose to try and score any more it shows class. I think its BS, why areyou not allowed to try and score as much as you can? arent you suppose to be competative for 48 minutes. I think its unfair that teams loosing are allowed to run down the score but the winners have to be the classy ones. I think if you dont want to get spanked by an opposing team come to play. What do you guys think?

Same thing like baseball, trying to steal in the 9th inning being up 10-0. It just shows your trying to run up the score and rub it in when its not necessary.

If you don't want a team to score on you, play defense. Pretty simple, I think people just get mad because their team lost, and they want to bitch about it, to be honest.

i think the "classless" last second shot by the winning team is overrated. to go with your baseball analogy, sure teams won't try to steal but they sure as heck take their at bats seriously. they don't all of a sudden keep their bat on the shoulder in the top of the ninth. same thing with basketball, its expected that the winning team run out the clock as much as possible, which they usually do, but who cares about some last second shot.

a team could be running out the shot clock for 2 minutes but they're classless after one last second shot but i've seen plenty teams try to score score score for several minutes in the same situation and not be called out.

To a point i completely agree. I don't think teams should be expected to stop scoring or running their offense simply because they are winning. But i also dont think you need to be chucking threes in the dying seconds so that you win by 24 instead of 21.

I ran the point for my highschool basketball team the last three years and i knew that once the score got out of hand that we were to stop fast breaking and running and gunning. But that didnt mean we stopped playing, it just meant we had a chance to run our offense all the way through so we could learn it better.

The common sense on this board is unbelievably low. Some people continue to amaze me for some reason. I can't believe a team can say that "you should play defense". How about, your ass already embarrassed the team by beating them, show some class and take a damn lay-up instead of jacking up 3's you know they're not gonna contest (probably because they thought you had more class than that). You don't see classy guys like Kobe doing that garbage, it's the bottom feeding scrubs like Vujacic who piggy back their way to the playoffs and possible championships. Everyone takes it as, we want you to stop running any offense. That's not we're saying at all, we want you to run plays that may will result in 2 points maximum, don't attempt to extend the lead when it's unnecessary. One thing I do say though, the Spurs should have shown more toughness. I mean, if a guy's trying to embarrass you, take a shot at him, let him know that garbage doesn't fly against you. What do you have to lose, the season is over anyways and the beginning of next season pretty much means peanuts.

I personally think you should do the Bellicheck way and just stomp teams out. These players are professionals, if they can't take a loss then try harder.

So what if hes taking a shot at the spurs the NBA is supposed to be competative not flowers and dasies. Its not classless they are just playing basketball. Why is the loosing team allowed to run down the score and take away from the winning teams success? IS that being a sore looser? Like its all Bull Sh*t. If you dont want to get smacked by your opposition dont play soft bottom line. And im just talking in general not the Lakers vs Spurs I didnt even get to see the game so I cant really speak on that.

NO-KG-AI is right.

Last time I checked, NBA basketball games are 48 minutes each. You play as hard as you can for 48 minutes, no matter what the score. Also, a lot of these guys are young and trying to prove themselves - should they have to hold back when a new contract could be on the line?

As an aside, in the NFL, when you don't play your absolute hardest is when you get injured. Might want to reflect on that one too.
