Alright, assuming that the other starters and benches were comprable...you're an idiot.
Scrub<GP
Jordan>Kobe, but closer than GP and scrub by about 50 miles
Scrub=Scrub
Barkley<Mailman
Hakeem=Shaq

Team quantity for me please...

starters/bench teams wouldn't be comparable since that is about 60 million tied up in 4 people already over the cap. They would have 4 HoFs and then a bunch of d-leaguers to round up the roster.

the hakeem/barkley/jordan would have 3 players making the major cash which would be 45 million and that leaves the team room to actually build some depth.

Not only that, but we all saw how that GP/Malone/kobe/shaq scenario worked out. Kobe can't even handle being 2nd to Shaq how do you think he will do when he has 3 other players taking a lot of shots from him. It's going to be clear that that Kobe would bolt ASAP after the team won 3 rings. Shaq and Kobe NEED to be the #1 option or they won't be happy.

Hakeem, on the other hand, would be happy to take a back seat. Barkley would be happy to avg 20 rebounds a night while Jordan is taking most of the shots anyway.

how did it "almost happen"?

barkley had to lose weight, meaning it never had a chance.

It was Ralph Sampson for Drexler and the #2 pick. Could you imagine Drexler + Hakeem + Sam Bowie?

The trade was actually Ralph Sampson to Chicago for the #3. Chicago was ready to do it, but Rockets never moved past through preliminary talks on the trade.

You can read about it in Filip Bondy's book: "Tip Off: How the 1984 Draft Changed Basketball Forever".

Hakeem in 2001 was not equal to Shaq even today, much less '04 Shaq.
