Ray Allen is a better three-point shooter than Larry Bird. Bird could hit it all over the floor at any angle, but if I know I need a trey I'm putting Ray Allen in the game. He can shoot 600+ in a season and still hit them at a 40% clip. He can playmaker on the perimeter. He's got the smoothest stroke we've ever seen. He holds the record for most 3-pointers made in a season. Larry, IIRC, didn't even play with a 3-point line his whole career.

And I'll take the Shaq-Kobe Lakers, easily. We're talking a threepeat dynasty vs. a team that just made the NBA Finals.

The Lakers today would give the Lakers "dynasty" a run for their money. No questions about it. The role players on todays Lakers are better than they were back then.

Wow im actually surprised to see Billups being picked over parker by the majority of people. Being a pistons fan i read the topic title and thoght "oh great here comes a billups bashing." Most people i know would give parker their vote but im glad to see bills getting some love.

I think you gotta give best shooter to Ray Ray. Yes obviously Bird is the better player, no one will argue against that. But straight up shooter, no one is better then Ray.

And as for the Lakers matchup? Shaq would finally be able to play AGAINST his arch rival kobe and would take his anger out on the basket. Old lakers in six.

And Billups can't lead his team to victory in yet another conference finals loss, I think "Mr. Big Shot" is overrated. His numbers aren't that impressive, he's a good three point shooter, but shoots a low percentage overall. His defense is overrated, he's big and strong, yet slow and suspect against quicker guards. Billups is a 17/7 player with good D, not great defense. He's never been a 1st D selection, he's been 2nd team two times before and a 3x all-star. Parker a 2x All-Star in a much tougher conference, doesn't have any All-D selections, but also has a Finals MVP and been part of 3 chip teams.

Billups is better, but it's not laughable.

Billups is still better at everything but penetration, and having Tim Duncan helps a lot. Billups sees much more pressure than Parker, I don't think that is debatable. You dont think if you replace Parker with Chauncey they would be better? wow.

I don't think San Antonio would have done any better with Billups. Pop has said all along that Manu is the X-Factor of that team, and he played like crap.

They've won with Parker, he fits well with San Antonio. I would still rather have a Prime Billups over him without taking much else into consideration.

Chauncy has struggled the last three years in the playoffs, he doesn't get enough blame for the Pistons playoff struggles.

I'd take Billups over Parker today...slightly. I do agree to an extent that Billups is living of his rep. I don't think that Parker is anything special of playmaker either. Also its weird that you say Chauncey struggles against big guards but fail to mention he 'dominates' smaller guards.

I do agree Billups should take more blame for the Pistons struggles. Mr. Big Shot hasn't been around in a while

Tony Parker could never be the number 1 guy on a championship squad, plain and simple, and even though the Pistons have come up short, they have 6 ECF, 2 finals appearances, and 1 ring with Chauncey as the leader.

I would blame the Piston's problem this year on getting dominated by KG and Pierce on both ends of the floor.
