Is it time to break up the Pistons? (merged threads)

Post#1 » by richboy » Sat May 31, 2008 4:41 am

6 trips to the ECF and 4 losses. 1 of there wins in the ECF was when Wade was injured in game 5 which allowed them to come back to beat the Heat. Simply put they have underachieved. It seems like the Pistons have shown all they can show. Is it time to break up the Pistons and try to rebuild or reload with another group of players?

Rasheed Wallace is exactly what is wrong with the NBA.

It is a good time to retool, they have good players, after a season in which a lot of teams will be willing to revamp their rosters after the big trade deadline last season.

They could really improve with some smart moves.

Depends on what you mean by "break up".

We certainly need some changes to the core at this point.

No firesale, but I will say that there isn't one starter individually that I wouldn't at the very least be open to moving, if not outright in favor of it.

Rasheed bolts to the Spurs and the Spurs become the best team again.

Yes. It's time. The Pistons and the Sonics are the only team in the last 50 years to win a title without a Hall of Fame player. You don't win titles without HOF players. I don't know what Joe Dumars is thinking. He has no players on his team that is going to get double and that makes Prince and some of their other players irrelevant. They are a good regular seasons team but they have 4 starters over the age of 30, and no true SUPERSTAR.

I think they should stick with Rip, Prince and Stuckey for sure. Try to improve with the rest.

if sheed had kobe's work ethic... my god... he'd be a legend that lebron would have trouble catching up with.
Sasha Vujacic = The Phail Machine = The Ring Blocker

Trade Sasha before he ruins the Lakers next season.

Depends on what you mean by "Break up". I don't think you'll see multiple pieces of the core out of town, but I certainly hope we ditch the coach and 1 core player.

Spot on. Like the other poster remarked, they dont need to blow things up but they have the pieces to retool and still be atop the east when the Celtics falter in a year or two (potentially).
