The reason the Lakers are winning is because of Lamar Odom's explosion, which you can thank Pau Gasol for.

They were doing well with Bynum but they are a totally different team with Gasol.

It's not that Gasol is a better presence in the paint, he cant rebound or defend as well, but, its his post-repost-passing game that has made his teammates better by improving spacing and ball movement.

Bynum was a beast but he didn't open the game up like Pau does.

He's helped the young guys get better looks and more chances to get involved in the game, and this has improved their defensive intensity.

Does it even matter? LeBron to NY in 2010!

Sarcasm aside, I don't really think Cleveland should get anyone in their backcourt via trades. They should build through the draft (Batum? Greene? Budinger?), considering there are many quality guards in the draft. IMO, LeBron needs a post scorer more than ever. Z is nice, but is old and relies on his midrange jumpers. Same thing with Joe Smith. Plus, Ben Wallace and Varejao are black holes on offense.

They should take a chance on Jermaine O'Neal. He's got his issues, but when he's healthy, he's a monster. Especially if he focuses more on his post game instead of jumpers. And who knows? LeBron James might be a great reason for O'Neal to be motivated and focused.

How is Mike Miller (SF) a better fit with LeBron James (SF) than Michael Redd (SG)?

Just look at Orlando playing two SFs. They want to get rid of Hedo for a true PF.

I think you're ignoring the make-up of the Cavs team. A major reason they get as far as they do, it's because of how they are build. They don't really have an offence, but they're very good defensively, and so they can really hurt East team's over a seven game series, because while they can't win on a major tear, it's hard to just get them to lose on a major one either, unless their completely over-matched (see: Finals, NBA).

The Cavs obviously just need talent at this point, but I think it's such a dysfunctional team right now running a very specific system, that tinkering a little may hurt more than it helps.

So true. The Cavs are built on defense. If they try to replace Wally Szczerbiak with someone else in the starting lineup, their defense is going to tank.

Wally Szczerbiak's defense > Ron Artest's defense.

No doubt about that. But he isn't a SG. He plays half the time at SG because of Gay, but he is a SF. Not to say Redd's any good on defense, but he can stay in front of a SG much better than Mike Miller can.

Redd also gets to the line. Something no one but LeBron does for the Cavs.

And Miller rebounds better (as SFs should), but that isn't a problem for the Cavs. They rebound well from the interior and LeBron's one of the better rebounding SFs.
