a 100% effort giving VC > 100 %effort giving PP

Vince Carter, for reasons that I do not want to list to get Pierce homers upset.

Pierce>Vince

Pierce is better at creating shots and drawing fouls and he's a better shooter from the midrange and equal shooter from the 3pt line. Vince is just a far better finisher around the rim.

Well, if Vince was motivated, we might be comparing him to Kobe.

Seeing as he's not, I'd take Pierce.

I'd take Carter - he basically played at the same level as Pierce this season despite the fact that he was playing on one leg. He also didn't have the benefit of an Allen or Garnett taking pressure off of him. A healthy Carter is better than Pierce IMO.

If you're talking about peaks I'd take Carter without question over Pierce.

a motivated vince carter could and probably would have been the greatest player of all time.........
but thats just like saying "What if shaq had a dirty fade away and 3 point shot?"

Pierce works harder and is a more skilled player. Vince Carter has athleticism all over Pierce, but there is not another aspect of play that VC is better than Pierce.

Pierce does work harder, especially at getting to the line..But he's not the more skilled player, Pierce is the better rebounder and defender, that's about all he has on VC (plus leadership).. VC has the better midrange, 3 point shot and play making abilities etc.. He's also a better finisher..

As far as who's the better player, I'd say it's even.. But Pierce may be more appealing to the masses because he's consistent, while VC is more explosive..

Paul Pierce...

Although a motivated and hard working Carter could be scary..

Except that Pierce played better defense than Carter and was just as good on offense despite not getting the same number of touches.

The fact that you have to compare a 'motivated' Vince vs. Pierce is exactly his biggest problem.

He SHOULD be motivated. He is a loser, though. Are we really going to sit here and say, oh, Vince would be this good if he actually tried? That's idiotic.

Pierce is a better leader, a better rebounder, WAY better defender, better 3PT shooter (look at the stats, Paul has shot 39% from 3 the last couple years), playmaker, more clutch... this isn't even a good comparison.

I'll take the guy that's in the NBA Finals and hasn't quit on his team and demanded a trade.

I think you'll find that most people still said Pierce. Go back and look at the archives, this comparison has been done before.
