Has the Talent Level on NBA teams Dropped Off?

I know Bynum is good and all..but let's wait to see how he plays after his injury before we anoint him as the next Kareem..

Gasol and Odom aren't anything special..

it's basically Kobe with other good players..there are plenty of teams all-time that **** on those 4 combined..

I agree; major knee problems can stunt development/potential in a heart beat.

I should've qualified my original post with: If Bynum returns healthy.

Bryant isn't 30 yet, and is considered one of the best active players in the league.

Gasol and Odom are nothing special? Both rank amongst the best at their respective positions, are still fairly young, and play in a system that highly compliments their skill set.

Add the legendary Phil Jackson, and a deep/talented bench; and you're looking at a team prepped to make history next season.

If your question is has the level of talent dropped off since say 2000, I would say no. But if the question is has it dropped since the 80's, I would say without out a doubt. Expansion has diluted the talent level, even with the influx of foreign players. You take some of those teams from the 80's and they destroy the competition today. Teams like the Lakers, Celtics, Pistons, Bulls, Trailblazers, heck even some of the Cavs and Bucks teams from then were amazingly deep.

The Suns was loaded but couldn't get through SA.

The Mavs were loaded too but had a bad system.

The Hornets are also extremely talented.

The Pistons? All 5 of their starters are talented.

I would take Rodman over Gasol any day of the week and the weekends, defense and rebounding greatly out shadows offensive contributions, in terms of winning. With prime Rodman Lakers would be godly.

are you serious? Pau is a good player, but you'll have to search for eons to find someone who plays wiht as much intensity as rodman.

And dont tell me this stuff about garnett, yeah hes intence, no doubt about that, but rodman is just insane (on and off the court)

the guy played with such immence energy, not to mention the fact that he was one of the most tenacious defenders and rebounders in the history of the game.

Odom is no where near a top SF hes in the middle of the pack

Lebron, Pierce, Turkoglu, Lewis, Melo, Prince, Gerald Wallace ,Josh Howard, Durant, Artest, richard Jefferson Maggette, and Stephen Jackson are all better then Odom.

Gasol is probaly the 5th best center in the leage, which is still good.
