Orl/Hou Trade Idea

I posted this on the Magic board, but just wanted to get you guys' perspective.

Orlando Trades
Hedo
JJ

Houston trades
Carl Landry
Shane Battier
1st round pick

Why for Orlando:
Orlando fills 2 of their most desired positions. They get a big man that is athletic and can rebound and defend at the PF position and also a proven vet that can play SG, has good size, and can defend as well as anyone in the league at the SG position. Add to that the fact that Battier can shoot the 3 very well. Orlando can still use MLE to sign a more talented offensive player to add to the mix and will get a 1st round pick they can use as a trade asset.

Why for Houston:
In Turk, they get the 3rd option the have been desperately needing. Hedo can relieve McGrady of both playmaking and scoring options. In JJ, they get a solid 3 point shooter that fits their system.

I didn't check if salary wise this trade is even possible, but seems like an interesting thought to me

Well, I just figured you guys would be interested in getting some offensive talent. I'd hate for you guys to keep getting eliminated in the 1st round since that is what will continue to happen if you don't make some moves

i agree we do need to make some moves but that is not one of them. we would be giving away 1 starter and another potential starter and a 1st for hedo and another undersized sg. we already have luther, we dont need jj.

I only see a few players that Houston can afford and could help
Rasheed Wallace
Luol Deng(doubt you guys can get him)
Turkoglu(20 ppg scorer, solid playmaker)

There are not that many players available. I like Houston a lot and love the Magic, I honestly would be happy with this trade. I think Houston becomes the contender they should be and Orlando gets a lot better.

from orlando, hmmm......dwight howard is the only name that comes to mind. well give you head and novak for hedo. whaddya say?

Dont listen to these people on this board. They're stubborn and much rather lose with this squad then win with players from other teams. Battier is one of my favorite players in the entire league(i would be saddened to see him go) but this is a trade that i would consider as it makes us a better team. They'll say no if Spurs are willing to trade Duncan to us.

Or how about, unlike the Magic, we like to play defense (Shane) and would rather wait and see with Landry than trade him for Hedo. I honestly don't even think Hedo is that great. He's good, but not great and definitely didn't play too great when defense was played on him during the Detroit series. It's different out West, son. There are more teams that are actually quality teams out here and play solid defense similar to Detroit.

And for the record, I would take Duncan if their asking price isn't too much. We wouldn't give Yao and T-mac leaving would kill our backcourt, but anyone else and I'd consider letting them go for Timmy.

J-Mezzy, I'd take your offer up ONLY if you take out Landry and put in Head, I think that Hedo would be a terrific fit here, especially since hes played with Adelman, and hes coming off an unbelievable year. Rebounding skills are like Shane, defensively he isn't BAD, one of the top 5 play makers in the league behind LBJ and Tmac that don't play the PG spot, and HES MONEY CRUNCH TIME, trailed only LBJ and Kobe in clutch baskets in the 4th last season.

LBJ, Tmac, Diaw, Roy, Dwade, KG and i'm sure i'm forgeting a few. Turk is good but let's not overrate him.

Honestly, I think the addition of the pick makes this deal look even more unattractive. Losing Battier means we have nobody and I mean nobody who can play good perimeter defense on anybody taller than 6'3. Some people underestimate that. There are two sides of the floor that must be played. Whatever points we gain with Turk will be lost defensively. I can only imagine what our defense will look like with he and T-Mac manning the 2 and 3. Then Carl Landry has much more value at this point than JJ in my opinion. He is an athletic 4 who compliments Yao very well. I don't really like this deal personally. I can see why some people may. Turk is attractive, but as for me, I wouldn't touch it, even with the pick taken out because I don't think it makes us a better team. It definitely makes us a better offensive team, unfortunately that may not equate to more success.

The real problem with this team and it has been for quite some time is keeping people healthy. All things being equal, is this team better fully healthy with a guy like Battier, Landry, and say Robin Lopez or Douglas Roberts or with Turk and JJ? I vote Battier, Landry, and pick.

Honestly this is a fair trade and i like turk alot. Still i wouldn't do it. I'm an advocate for change but we give up a tad too much here. And i would hate to see Shane go.

I'm with Vator. The more I think about a Turk for Battier swap (leaving aside the 1st and Landry, which IMO kill this deal), the more I think about who's going to be stopping Kobe.

Sure as hell isn't Hedo or Tmac. We don't want to be the next team to have 80 points scored on us by Kobe.

Our staple is defense. It's what keeps in games, and we are one of the best teams at it. You don't screw with that unless you really know what you are doing, and you don't trade away the guy who anchors it unless you are getting someone similar (for example, KG/Duncan) back.

Landy has a lot more value than Reddick , while Hedo has more value than Battier but not by that wide of a margin so why we are the ones who add a 1st.

We are not breaking the Scola Landry tandem soon , both of them are exactly what we need and both are on cheap contracts.
