i'd love that. even without dyess.
billups/smith/melo/wallace/nene
three great shooters and solid scorers, a finisher in the middle, and a star scorer. with kmart off the bench (dont know how he'd handle that, but i'd take the chance)
we'd finally spread the court for melo, and billups would give us some perimeter d and better decision making (than dre, blake, carter or ai)

With Billups and Sheed, I would assume that means AI is part of the deal, and probably Camby(or Nene?) as well.
edit:
AI, Camby, Kleiza for Chauncey, Sheed and Dyess works via the trade checker.
AI just for Billups and Sheed works too.
Although I figure they would want more value like the trade you brought up. I thought Dyess said he'd retire rather than be traded though? (Yes, that hasn't stopped me from including him in trades)
Would love having billups/smith/melo/wallace/nene too. With Dyess and Kmart as back up bigs. If Najera is resigned, team might be able to call itself deep up front for once if Nene is healthy.

If Billups comes in we would have to keep AI; that's what the team needs a defensive 1, add AI to the mix and it's a championship team.
But without AI..please this team goes no where; a no way in hell they trade AI for billups and sheed..for one thing billups and sheed would hate playing with Melo and another thing they could of had Melo when it all came down to it..so why would Detroit blow up their team and trade their 2 best players??
More realistic would be Caron Butler, Nick Young and Haywood for Melo and Camby. You get a Defensive SF and Center who actually plays man to man defense where he doesn't have to stand at the free throw line and throw alleys all day.

Give it up....Melo is going nowhere.....AI isn't needed in Denver anymore, accept it. Chauncey and Melo get along fine, and play pick up ball together a lot in the offseason, seen it with my own eyes. The trade won't happen, but a Chauncey, JR backcourt is a scary thought.

I still do not see how Billups makes this team get pass the first round. Did anyone actually see him play in the post season? He had a few games here and there but he looks like he slowed down a lot. And Rasheed Wallace did not do much neither. I also do not see why you guys are so high on Nene who has not done jack **** his career. I guess you guys want AI gone that bad. However until Melo matures and becomes a better all around player and a leader this team will continue to get bounced out in the first round with Melo
Iverson, Iggy, Willie Green, Sammy D, Josh Smith, Rasheed and Ben Wallace, Larry Hughes Garnett, Francis, Lebron, Melo, K Mart, Wade, Amare, Q Richardson, T Mac, DC, and C Webb

i think Chauncey's time in Detroit could be at an end...maybe.
that Detroit team was ultra competitive, but i don't think that core unit works anymore..it was a beautiful machine while Ben Wallace was there and luckily they shipped his ass out before he became a problem..but in saying that, he may not have declined had he stayed with the Pistons. who knows. what we do know is that the current Detroit team is in about the same state as the Spurs. still deadly, but not quite on top anymore.
so i think now would be the best time for Chauncey to move on.
where better than Denver?
we desperately need a floor general, and i think with Melo and JR at his side he'd be rejuvinated. they take pressure off him to score, but he's deadly from the 3 so the floor will be spread on offense and if SOMEHOW Sheed came along...man...if even 50% of their defensive game rubbed off on Melo & JR....
so i'm all for it...said it plenty of times, AI is a hell of a player, but not what we need to move forward. a mixture of youth, pure talanet and floor leadrship might just get us out of the first round.

Wow talk about making me laugh. So your position is that Billups who is a ball dominant PG would only be happy in Denver playing alongside one of the most selfish players in the history of the NBA? I used to think some AI fans were delusional, now I know for a fact AI fans are delusional.
If this trade goes down and AI is not included this team is taking a large step back after next season.

There will be life after AI in denver. But I do agree with you that there is no way detroit would give up their two best players for AI. Rip is an effective two guard that fits perfectly as is, AI would be a downgrade at the point from Chauncy and one would wonder how rip and AI would fit into the backcourt together. denver cant say on one hand that AI is a liability on offense and defense and then start demanding teams give up their best players to get him. As for trading melo, i dont see that happening either.

The only people calling Billups and wallace there best players are in this thread. Billups is highly paid for the next 3 years with an option on the fourth year, and Stucky is ready to take his place soon. Wallace has declined to the point of putting up 13 and 6 on bad percentages while taking games off mentally and showing hints of his old attitude coming back (right now I personally think that his best value is as an expiring regardless of the hype many on Realgm give him). With this deal alone they remove an extra $7 million or so from the cap next year depending on the filler, and would also free up either Hamilton or Prince (if they feel Hamilton can move to the 3 spot) to get a center to continue their run.
