AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- The Detroit Pistons say Flip Saunders will not be back as coach next season.

"Decisions like this are difficult to make," team president Joe Dumars said on the team's Web site. "However, at this time, I feel it is necessary to make a change."

ESPN is reporting the leading candidate is Michael Curry for the Pistons, but also Porter is still in the mix, but Porter is also be looked at in Phoenix.

This isn't about the players, more than likely a few will be moved as well.

This is about Flips inability to coach a champiosnhip team. He hasn't developed our youngs guy (Amir Johnson, sat Maxiell in favor of Ratliff, didn't want to play Stuckey at first, never wanted to play Afflalo even though he is our best perimeter defender), he can't make good in game adjustments (out of time out plays always result in a bad shot/turnover), his rotations are god awful (although he did okay early in the playoffs), his ABA offense allows the opposing teams defense to dictate what the offense does, his defense is bascially a 2-3 zone or nothing at all.

Don't blame the players for Flips flaws. Yes the players will be blamed for their flaws and bad play.... but Flips unemployment is Flips own fault.

Next Stop: Chicago.

Chicago was going to interview a veteran coach, anyhow. Here he is.

Welcome to Chicago, Flip.

It would be nice if Pistons could re-hire Larry Brown... he was the perfect coach

Well Isiah is the best Pistons player in franchise history, I'd say you go back to what got you success.

Isiah FTW in Detroit

I betcha Joe D was feeling pressure from Curry and Porter signing on elsewhere. They've been drumming up interest from teams with vacancies. Look for one of these two as the new Pistons coach. My guess is Porter.

About time. Still the problem is not that Flip isn't a good coach...its thats he isn't a disciplinarian like Larry Brown was. The Pistons needs someone that will ensure they bring a consistent effort and energy to every game they play.

I personally think JVG is that guy but they might have other people in mind.

^ I agree, I would love to have Van Gundy aboard, but I doubt it happens. I can deal with either Curry of Porter.

I bet Flip goes to Phoenix.

I don't agree with the firings of Avery and Flip. Both teams were good in the regular season but their rosters simply weren't good enough to compete for a championship.

Or the president of the U.S. Wouldn't be much of a downgrade from what we have now.
